Heading home from the four week Meri Singsing Project in Bougainville. Amazing project writing and recording with uniquely talented Melanesian women from all around the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. @wantokmusik.bsky.social
The Autonomous Region of Bougainville is seeking independence from Papua New Guinea. In order to achieve this they need 75% of PNG’s parliament to vote in favour of them seceding. When called to vote in a referendum in 2019 97% of Bougainvilleans voted in favour of independence.
Off to Bougainville for a month of recording women’s songs for the @wantokmusik.bsky.social Meri Singsing Strong Project. Fascinating time to be working in what could potentially be the newest nation on the planet.

Jubilation in Budapest. Viktor Orbán defeated. Horrible, dangerous and mean spirited politician. All fair minded and decent people will welcome this result
