When parents can't afford child care, they work less or leave the workforce. That means lower income for families, less productivity for businesses, and less tax revenue for the District.
DC has the highest costs for child care in the US. But starting today, families that need help paying for it will be put on a waitlist for the District's subsidy program - the only resource helping parents pay for care.
