I actually ended up doing this same approach for Borderlands The Pre-Sequel DLC Claptastic Voyage Subconscious.
This wasn't a perfect process but a response to this being flawed on multiple projects. Proper level design tools would have also changed how we approached this but getting timings, progression visual design in was such a relief in a quick turn around so we could start discussing and demoing.
This was now exported and ready for game, I took some final screens with related notes just as reference and confirmation but this stage was pretty much in game and walkable with all the events blocked out by lunch.
The clean map was sent around on email to everyone on the meeting to confirm it was what we discussed and allow for thoughts. I think I changed a few little beats and then took the vector and converted it into a full 3d elevation.
We started with a whiteboard meeting where I just mapped out the area loosely. We discussed timing and scale of things along with potential framing or line of sights. 30 minute meeting max with all departments included. Back at my desk I redrew the map in vector, to scale with notes for beats
In PAL regions Starfox was actually Lylat Wars. I think a lot of people have missed the new designs are actually completely accurate to the Lylat Wars promo material.
If Gremlins 2 was made today there would be no redemption arc for Clamp, he would be ripped limb from limb by the Gremlins and Gizmo would make a little quip.
I can finally start talking about all the shit I have been doing, including mesh lights for the entire game just like Wind Waker.
Mum or Dad games? After careful discussions with @elliotcox.com I think the best classification tool is in fact a 4-quadrant scatter plot with Sickos (Positive), Sickos (Negative), Normies (Positive), Normies (Negative). To prove this I tested it with a game that is the exact median.
The other day I was trying to remember what the old driving game with a track builder was I played as a kid because in my mind it was just trackmania but more dated. Shocking to discover it was actually Stunts (1990) and looked more like this:
Say what you will about the Yoshi popcorn bucket, it can't compete with the unbridled majesty of the 1993 goomba popcorn bucket.
