📣🦈 Deeper observations of the goblin shark! Judah et al. report the first live in situ observations of the iconic goblin shark (Mitsukurina owstoni) on a seamount near Jarvis Island in 2019 and on the slope of the Tonga Trench in 2024. Read the paper here: buff.ly/oPWvxp3
🌊 New research shows seamounts & oceanic ridges may act as key biodiversity “stepping stones” in the Southeast Pacific. Flores et al. tracked larval dispersal of the deep-sea jagged lobster Projasus bahamondei and found strong connectivity across oceanic habitats. Read the paper: buff.ly/WApXUpc
