For fun, I gave #AI an MRI shot of my ear. I truthfully characterized it as from a head scan and asked what it was, if the engine needed additional info to make a dx (it didn’t), then to produce a differential diagnosis and show reasoning. It highly preferred a dx for a brain tumor. Narrator: 👎

Sadly, the onions I needed were gross and even somewhat liquified. Now that gardening season is coming to an end, from the looks of it we will be eating… carrots. This is a major grocery in rural America. Empty shelves coming to a store near you.

I spent a few years of my career at NOAA. It was an amazing place. The travesty of zero’ing all these labs will be devastating in immediate and longterm ways. Including on total communities. Imagine thinking eliminating environmental science is the way to be great. This cannot be reversed. r/Boulder

Termination of OAR's Weather Laboratories and Cooperative Institutes (-$90,156, -244 FTE/ -285 Positions) - NOAA requests this termination in order to support Administration priorities. NOAA will continue to support high priority weather research programs in NWS.
In coordination with the requested terminations for Climate Laboratories and Cooperative Institutes (see OAR-5) and Ocean Laboratories and Cooperative Institutes (see OAR-19), NOAA will close the Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) in Miami, FL; the Air Resources Laboratory (ARL) in College Park, MD, Idaho Falls, ID, and Oak Ridge, TN, as well as a nation-wide network of soil moisture sensors; the Chemical Sciences Laboratory (CSL) in Boulder, CO: the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL) in Princeton, NJ; the Global Monitoring Laboratory (GML) in Boulder, CO Utgiagvik, AK, Mauna Loa, HI, Hilo, HI, Big Island, HI, American Samoa, and the South Pole; the Global Systems Laboratory (GSL) in Boulder, CO the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) in Norman, OK; the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (MEL) in Seattle, WA; and the Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) in Boulder, CO.
NOAA will discontinue funding for activities previously supported by the Weather Laboratories and Cooperative Institutes Subactivity ncluding the Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment (VORTEX) and the Warn on Forecast (WoF) system.
NOAA will evaluate options for supporting these specific activities within the NWS in the future.

Just as birthright citizenship goes to the Supreme Court, this citizen is unable to get a replacement #socialsecurity card from SSA. A glitch or did DOGE reset these records?

Social Security Administration just told me I am not a US citizen!
Was born here, have my birth certificate, have my passport, but my Social Security card has gone missing somewhere in the depths of my parents home. After not having it for a couple years I finally decided to just get a replacement card.
Went to SSA site, followed all the prompts, filled in all the info, I sawcan see my benefits earnings.
But when I input my infor while applying for a replacement card. A message pops up that says: :Our records indicate you are not a U.S.
Citizen.
Normally i would challk this up to some glitch. But my parents are in fact from another country, one that the US is NOT friendly with (and vice versa) and they became US citizens in the 1980s, but based on the current state of things and where our family is from... I am starting to have a panic attack.

I read this, and do not know who the author is or the news source. It appears to be frank right wing propaganda, including calling out BlueSky as a left wing boiling pot of violent radicals (my summary), but mostly running neutral Canadian stories. This is a typically a nation state tactic. YMMV
