Happy caturday! James is in the dinghy doing painting prep and Beluga Greyfinger yowls at us when we work from the dinghy. Since I'm in the cabin, he's confining himself to short demanding meows and looking at me dramatically before stalking back to the companionway.

This is what we ran on in Cabo Verde.

Me too sometimes. I got a back tattoo of a madrona tree so I could take it with me. I think I'm homesick for a place that's not there anymore. I sailed away in 2000 and haven't been back since my book tour in 2014. Is it different for you?

My madrona tree tattoo. The photo shows a much younger me, a white person in her late twenties. I'm topless and wearing jeans. I have one arm raised and the other holds my breasts so that my new cornucopia tattoo is visible in a mirror. My back is in the foreground, giving a good view of the twisted branches, the female figure living inside the trunk, and the two critters making a yin-yang on my right shoulder. All tattoos except the creatures were done by Gypsy Jill, and she touched up Bandana Mike's critters so that the colors worked better with the tree.

I bled a lot on this last batch, but I won't send bloody photos without an invitation. These 6 birds represent the 30,000 nautical miles I've traveled on sailboats. By the time I get back north, I'll have earned another one and I'm thinking about centering an osprey, head down, wings in sharp Vs.

True, also mine has been stellar including my guy befuddling a 6 top of hard cases at the brunch truck in Cabo Rojo by expansively charming them into showing off their tattoos

I am fascinating to children which can make bus rides quite exciting.

I'm a white person, mostly woman identified though it's complicated as gender can be. My partner, James, gave me a raging Mohawk mere hours before and then we went to the Econo supermarket where I was followed incessantly because Mohawk! Also because James is still not 100% and so he settled in next to the deli and I made loops through the place like no one ever moves through a grocery store. In the photo, I have my head turned to the side and the supermarket ambiance is strong. A yellow pipe of considerable size is above me to my left (right in the pic), and some contrasting blue elements delineate bits of something on my right (photo left).

Apropos of a Cj Cherryh post elsewhere, a postdoc fellow gave me feedback on my SF WIP when I reached out because I was stretching his mitochondrial research into fictional realms and yes, scientists are absolutely into talking about their studies.

No, really, I could go on and on. Beluga Greyfinger is a grey and white cat with green eyes. He's sitting on my lap and I'm using the selfie cam to capture how wonderful his smile is and his paw also. I'm in the background (except my hairy leg, on which he is lying) wearing a Bermuda shirt I got at a thrift store before ever sailing to Bermuda. You can't see much of the shirt. It's really a picture of a cat.

Lucky day! Walked to the laundromat, packed the clean clothes in bags and put those in a waterproof duffel bag so we could share the load, one handle each. Got rained on while walking to the propane place but it STOPPED before we pulled the laundry in lieu of the tank. Clean, DRY laundry aboard!

Sunset in Patillas, Puerto Rico

Sunset obscured/enhanced by rain. Our electric sailboat, Cetacea, is anchored in Bahia de Patillas, PR. The image shows the undersides of 4 of our 6 solar panels and the aluminum arch they're all attached to. The real visual though is a dusky orange sunset on a horizon low behind the boat's cockpit coaming. The odd color is due to a rain squall that is on top of us while the sky is clear out where the sun is setting. Also in the photo, crosswise against the backstay and raised tiller, is the wind vane for the Monitor, creating angular interest.

Classic alternative. They do require more frequent adjustments, but any optical worth their ultrasonic bath will cheerfully adjust for anyone, whether or not you get your glasses from them.

The wind shifted way farther south than forecasted so, instead of a 90° shift, it's a 180°. Keeping an eye on our position is important because the chain stretches out and then the anchor needs to break loose AND THEN reset the other direction. In sand and grass. Wish us luck.
