Ah, yes - the view of my one and only Grand Canyon visit...🙃 maybe I'll try again (,in the summer) if I'm ever in that area again.

Air Quality Evolution (1976 vs. Today)
1976 Status: The mid-1970s was a period of high pollution following notorious 1960s smog events. Sulfur dioxide (CO2) levels were high. The EPA noted that in 1975, 86% of reported ozone sites in the U.S. exceeded national standards.

Key Changes: The primary drivers for improvement include the Clean Air Act regulations, the phase-out of heavy heating oils (like No. 6 oil) in NYC buildings, and cleaner automobiles.
Today's Status: Air quality is at its cleanest in decades. Nationwide, emissions of common pollutants have dropped by 78% between 1970 and 2020.
New Challenges: While conventional pollution is lower, 2023 saw record-breaking poor air quality in NYC due to unprecedented Canadian wildfires, reaching a hazardous AQI of 438.

Like clockwork...

Our black and white cat doing her morning drink from the bathroom faucet (looks like an old hand pump). She puts her leg under the flowing water and drinks ofcher leg. Don't ask. The sink is white marble, the wallpaper old black and white French newspaper ads, and there's a tiki style scent wax holder on the sunk.

I have no photographic talent, but really liked the moon over the trees earlier this evening.

Mine are a little shocked from last night's frost, but still doing their thing.

Finally got one of the monarch butterflies 🦋 to sit long enough for a couple of quick pics. We have at least 2, maybe 3, in the zinnias, or what's left of them. #garden #butterfly #insects
