The Winged Victory of Samothrace. The sculpture is of the Greek Goddess Nike. She’s missing her head and arms after being damaged. The statue, despite its extensive damage, feels powerful and looks beautiful. Absolutely a symbol of resilience and strength to me.
My next read (and my first book by Octavia) Couple chapters in and this is already a hard read.

One memorable part of that entire trip was visit Karnak Temple in Luxor. That second photo clearly shows the colour on the hieroglyphs. That is the original colour, still preserved after 4,000+ years. And my family in the third pic ❤️
I should be sleeping but now I’m scrolling through all the photos and videos from my Egypt trip and wow. How incredibly lucky I was to have experienced this wonder of the world.
My dad & I had the chance to visit King Tut’s tomb in 2018 on our trip to Egypt. We waited in line for 10 mins & just before it was our turn to walk in - we decided not to go in. It just didn’t feel right to us. I took a picture of the signage instead. To this day, I don’t regret my decision.
