they/them, 26 nb book nerd. Trying to write more. Working on video essays about dungeons and/or dragons Reading: All of the original Conan stories (help me why did i do this) Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser pfp by bug4932 on tumblr background pic by me
I love when posts go viral with lies in them because nobody reads the article. Nowhere in the article does it say he is the "head of child safety," just that he was an "engineering manager who built experiences for kids"
the spice is what I like tbh, it works just as well for chilly Wisconsin winters as it does for chilly Spanish mountains. Another fave of mine is Lampredotto, which is a Florentine tripe sandwich. Tripe boiled in broth w/ green and red sauces. It might not sound appealing but is really tasty.
Fabada Asturiana is peak stew imo. I had it while in Asturias a while ago and it was delicious. I've made a few versions of it here with what's available in the US and while pretty good, they just aren't the same.
I feel like using the belters from the expanse is cheating a bit, but I think "welwala" works as an insult because it fits culturally. Calling somebody a planet lover makes sense for a culture of people in the asteroid belt who are oppressed by the inhabitants of the inner planets
Ancient Rome had the idea of damnatio memoriae, condemnation/damnation of memory. Statues were destroyed or had their faces removed. Faces were blotted out of paintings. Inscriptions were carved out of walls. Coin dies were altered to remove names. We can do the same, by hand if we need to.
They also host a really cool comics and games festival there. My family would go every year when we lived in Italy. Its so cool to see people in comicon level costumes walking around the city walls
Homemade Chicken Marsala and Risotto, really happy with how it turned out.
If Dave Filoni has no haters, it means that I am dead. I really dislike how so much of the current era of stars war is based on showing you a glup shitto from a 10-20 year old kids cartoon and expecting you to be intimately familiar with who they are based on that previous show. It's homework.
The mural of him in the Kansas state capitol is wild too. The way they painted him looks almost like how you'd depict a saint or a prophet
Like you can't just drop a character from a kids show with hair straight off a lego minifigure into my space western and expect me to hoot and holler and know who she is
For smaller quantities of data, a carrier pigeon can suffice, though IPoAC transfers have some unique vulnerabilities.
I think its actually kinda fascinating that this has apparently been a problem with tabletop games since kriegsspiel
what is the point of following 100,000+ people? I follow a few hundred and thats already too many. Not to get all philosophical but to me the point of following is "i I want to see this person's posts." With 100k, you are just making your own bad newsfeed.
To quote @mcopelov.bsky.social : The institutions are not self-enforcing. Breaking the law doesn't matter when the checks and balances are supporting the lawbreakers, or unwilling to enforce the consequences.
move over feminist theories of International Relations, i have a new way of explaining the world
@jorphdan.bsky.social thanks so much for the DCC giveaway! Moose and I are looking forward to digging into these and running some DCC. I have a feeling that she'll be a merciless Judge towards our players.
It does mention her anti-trans politics, albeit just in passing, starting in the second paragraph. The article is bad, yeah, but there is at least minimal mention, an allusion to why people don't like her, without any serious engagement with it.
People are always able to buy "paperweights" to "beat down paperwork" from our good friends at budk
I think the Sisters should have a Dreadnaught with a saint in it. The sorta vibe of some of the cooler christian reliquaries. I could see it for the space marines or custodes too, but the gilded corpse of a saint stomping into battle seems like it could be a good fit for the sisters.
I've decided to try and read some of the Conan comics for my D&D project and this is what i have to deal with. By Crom, these writers need to come up with new names for these series. And I think the collection I have currently is a collection of old Marvel comics, published by Titan.
If you see this, I IMPLORE you to post a picture from whatever device you’re using without explanation.
I will convince the Internet that Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser have a more than friendly relationship and there's nothing you can do to stop me.
Post your favorite Star Trek character. Wrong answers only. Well, they are a pair of mostly heroic rogues. One is taller and hairier, while the other is skinny and agile. One makes wisecracks, while the other is more stoic. Both are skilled warriors, but one leans more towards pure strength.
