sick haul today

pallets of blackberries, stone fruits, apples, figs, and green grapes harvested from wandering around my neighborhood in portland, chilling on a hardwood floor after being dumped out of a shopping bag (but before being rinsed). there's this website called fallingfruit that uses openstreetmaps to show where fruit trees in your vicinity whose owners don't claim the entire harvest. surprisingly few people growing fruit trees seem to want the fruit!

tired witch food spell 117.41: expand leftovers pictured example: pbj fried rice with salmon and wild red arugula (j is for jerk) made from leftovers from juanita's, who makes incredible jerk salmon on rice

a bunch of fresh tomatoes from the garden of my pandemic house, held in a ceramic bowl kintsugi'd together (but with sugru instead of gold). plastic bins are visible in the background, demonstrating that we had still not finished moving in at that point

Got sick of the doom and made BLTs

A slightly burnt vegan BLT on gluten-free brioche bread sitting on a plate on my kitchen counter. There's a great big eye-shaped hole in the center of thr bread, revealing the romaine lettuce underneath

A more beautiful and less burnt BLT I fed to my bonny prince (lol). I used Thrilling bakon, which was actually the bacon that convinced me to stop eating pigs, it's better than regular bacon. The plate is illuminated from above, and the grill marks kinda resemble a skull with bat wings if you squint

Both sandwiches, cut in half, along with the knives I used. You can see my tomatoes are sliced up cherry tomatoes, which would have been hard to keep in the sandwich if I hadn't wrapped them inside the lettuce which surrounded the bacon. Good sandwich architecture is the key to sandwich integrity

arm day, bitches

me in a messy sewing room, dressed for a job interview in a denim jacket, pointy earrings, and a temple dress, but holding a scimitar over my shoulder. I learned some kendo as a teenager and to this day I view it as a great arm workout you can pick up and do, because it has a set of well-defined controlled motions that work various parts of your arms in the course of managing the rotational momentum of a sword, involves your legs and core too, and you can scale it up and down in speed to be better strength training or better cardio. I moved to this scimitar a couple years ago because it's a bit heavier than a katana

Nah it wraps around eventually. Once you start using individual computers as monitors you can scale your workstation up and down modularly as needed. Some cafe tasks are one-laptop tasks, some might be three, and sometimes I forego the laptop and just bring a deck of cards
