“Startled” is definitely the word. I was locked in a train of thought playing backgammon and this nearly sent me off the edge of my seat.
Same every year, Eagles disrespect from analysts who somehow get paid for this utter garbage. Just look at who’s ranked ahead 🤦♂️ eu.usatoday.com/story/sports...
Special mention to the MGIF’ers (and there’s a lot of you), you may want to re-acquaint yourself with the Highway Code. Over 50% of you haven’t read this incredibly important series of rules and laws since e passing your driving test and it f’ing shows.
One of my favourite races of the year starts shortly, the Volta a Portugal 🇵🇹 A premier Velogames contest full of unknowns and unpredictability & gives us all a breather from Pogi dominance (although Team UAE are here to spoil the party). After much deliberation, my team selection for the race.
Forgot how much fun this bike is to ride, must be a year plus since I last used it. Need to get out on it more.
Team for Velogames Pologne. Tough race to call with a weak startlist and the favourite being a complete unknown. Final stage ITT will take deciding the winner down to the wire. Pologne always marks the tragic passing of Bjorg Lambrecht and his race number (143) retired in his honour.
It was all going eerily well avoiding Velogames DNF/DNS’s. That was until today. Really gutted for Lipo. Wishing him a speedy recovery and it’s everything behind Remco for the remainder of the race.
1 hour+ in that ☀️ 🔥 at any kind of intensity and you are fully wiped out. The vacant stare says it all 😂
Q: What is overwhelmingly the most taboo word to the complicit broadcast and print media? A: It is of course “driver”.
It’s where road safety policy makers prioritise the demands of Automotive OEM’s and tier 1 suppliers above the safety of the general public.
Floating bus stops are often under fire from motorists, sadly with tragic consequences. The second person killed by a reckless motorist at a floating bus stop on the same stretch of road in the same year. Bad faith actors exposed for what they are when the criticism is purely focused on cyclists.
Blocked this weirdo yesterday morning and since I blocked them I’ve been added to a couple of their bogus lists. Bizarre behaviour tbh. @bsky.app need to review this functionality. If you block someone, it’s because they warrant it. They then shouldn’t be able to add you to their lists.
All teamlists in for the TdF and I’ve crunched endless rider combinations in Velogame 2026 to see if I can improve on my current draft. Unusual for me with so much time until Grand Départ, but I’m sold on this selection. Whilst getting Philipsen in would be great, I think Bini can be v good value.
The MSM always assign agency to the cyclist, yet seldom ever do likewise with the driver. They even from time to time are happy to put a bugle call out for motorists to transfer their rage onto cyclists. www.heraldscotland.com/politics/237...
The early Velogame drafts, both of which I like. 1st is safer imo, higher floor, lower ceiling. 2nd is riskier, lower floor but potentially a higher ceiling. Locks in whatever draft I end up going with are - Pog, Lipo, Carapaz, Baudin, Verstrynge What drafts are you running with atm?
Closest thing I could find, LCC did an aerial heat map in 2023 and you can see the difference with notoriously gridlocked roads like Kirkstall Road in red. Obviously given today‘s record breaking heat and much of North Leeds being in standstill traffic, today’s equivalent would be extreme.
Reminiscing about the beauty of Andalusia and after what seemed like never ending climbing, finding myself at the top of a mountain, suddenly overwhelmed by the majesty of it all. I looked down upon a faint village in the distance, with anticipation to the thrill of the descent. ❤️ 🚴♂️
A picture paints a thousand words. Understand the context in the UK, historically narrower roads, high congestion levels, significant cognitive load in built up areas and an bonnet height which can either obscure or completely mask visibility of a child crossing the road.
Velogames Tour De Suisse team pretty much decided on. Not easy. Weak GC field, question marks with lots of riders, so whatever you go with you’ll likely be taking a bit of a punt somewhere in your lineup. Biggest flyer is Thibaut Nys, but looked good in his first race back in Gippingen.
I know there were quite a few raised eyebrows with the Caja Rural invite to the Tour, but then again they had 2 riders Jose Felix Parra and Jan Castellon both in the top 10 of today’s brutal stage in the AURA Tour, in a stacked field. Chapeau!
Route design has been a success. The TTT earlier in the week and pivotal stages happening over the last 3 days has prompted attacking racing, with race favourites & their teams keeping their powder dry. Current GC means attacks will start from today for the favourites. road.cc/news/cycling...
I reciprocate blocks merely just to tie up loose ends. Adding me to a trolling list results in the same, completely nullifying your childish efforts. To the latter, get yourself back on the other place, you’d fit in much better there 👋
Velogames Tour d’Auvergne (Dauphiné) team pretty much decided upon. -Seixas stand out favourite -Trusting Ayuso 🙏 -Uijtdebroeks and Nordhagen good for the weekend climbs -VPP GC or stage hunting -Dani Martinez loves this race -Godon for sprints -Debruyne & Braz Afonso for breakaways
Taking this into a wider perspective, for pedestrian fatalities between 2020-24. Of the 1906 killed, 9 were as a result of a collision with a cyclist (0.04%). The remainder (over 99.5%) were killed as a result of a collision with a motorist. www.gov.uk/government/s... Cont…
TFL conducted a safety review of floating bus stops. Covering a 3 yr period (2020-22’) at 164 floating bus stops, there were 5 pedestrian casualties (non fatal) in collisions with cyclists. Contrast that to pedestrian casualties across the same period in collisions with motorists - 11,400. Cont…
Thanks, saw a Facebook post alerting their local community to 2 lads scamming elderly residents (had said the van was 2018 but could be a typo). The company name is different (scam tactice) but the logo almost identical & exact same service listing, on Bark too. www.facebook.com/story.php?st...
