My (handsome!) grandpa and his buddy Kurk celebrating after their battalion, with a host of other units under the command Gen. Patton, broke the German position in the Avranches, opening a crucial gateway for Allied tanks to flood the zone
I know @aaronburch.bsky.social loves Jesus Son (which is fine) but my fan-epigraph for this book is basically the whole of Lying in a Hammock at William Duffy’s Farm in Pine Island, Minnesota BY JAMES WRIGHT
Finished @aaronburch.bsky.social‘s Tacoma sitting on the toilet w/ a kid banging on the door and I am so impressed by this book’s ambition and execution. Makes good on a promise implied by this wave of autofiction that I have never seen before: to take seriously the reimagining of one’s own life
I keep a conspicuous number of Ashes & Diamonds (1958) screenshots on my desktop at all times. Like A LOT, in case I die. My hope is that these will satisfy anyone looking for my secrets on my computer, and leave the files unexplored.
Never forget: Liev Schreiber's character in The Daytrippers (1996) was writing a Karen Russell-esque magical realist novel about a man with a dog's head ("a pointer!") who accidentally starts a new religion.
