I live in an area with a very tumbled & fragmented geology that used to be sea bed pushed up against a plate boundary. The local native sandstone outcrops are low density & too brittle for step-stones. But I want to match the color & buy durable sandstone suitable for a garden path, to fit my area

A light yellow-beige sandstone with some darkness on the perimeter from water because I wanted to see if it looked better and wet and it doesn’t sitting on a couple of gray cushions to provide a neutral background

A deer killed by screwworms:

A dead stag with a 8-12 inch wide bloody-colored ulcer with swollen edges rising about 3 inches above surrounding skin, at the junction between neck and shoulder. Vague suggestions of exposed inner neck structures in the wound.

As foretold by the Basketmaker culture of the SW US 2000 years ago

Some legless, triangular-bodied anthropomorphic rock art pecked into pale orange sandstone through the orange/brown desert varnish, with arms extended and bent, and “antennae” coming out of a line-thin head (likely braids), resembling the general form of the electrical pylon in the original post. This artistic style is attributed to the “basketmaker” culture of at least 2000 years ago which predates the invention/introduction of of pottery in the southwest.

Cartoon space aliens Kodos and Kang, from the Simpsons. Behind the aliens, the earth from space is seen on a video screen or window set in a bright pink wall above a bank of sci-fi spaceship controls. The two aliens most resemble large green octopi, except that what would be the body of an octopus is a head whose face has a single eye and a mouth with fangs. On each side of the head are large pointed ears. They are each wearing a space helmet like a clear bubble enclosing their entire head. Below the helmet they are all tentacles. The alien on the left has one tentacle raised on each side, like a human raising their
hands. Its mouth is pursed and it is looking off to the side, like someone reacting to surprising news and looking out to see if anyone else overheard it. The alien on the right is likewise looking to the side as if trying to avoid being heard, and its drooling mouth is open as if it is speaking.
The pair are known for asking such questions as why the strong humans don’t just eat the weak ones.

To the left rises the trunk of a mature and stately valley oak, with branches arcing to the right over a dirt road through mixed grassy foliage. I still prefer catzilla.
