Good morning, everykon! It's the last day of out-of-my-element imposter syndrome job, so very happy for that! Also excited for all the gaming and writing that will come after!
28) Chrono Trigger I wouldn't say I give Chrono Trigger a lot of hate, but it is the benchmark for the hundreds of Kickstarters by people who haven't touched an RPG since the late '90s and say they're all bad. The thing is, though, for as glazed as it is, it really does deserve it, mostly.
We liked the demo for Voice of Belladona, but I am losing it over this skin DLC. Girl, your titties are outrageous!
142) Diorama Break Super interesting idea that they actually seem to be pulling off really well. Solid writing, great art, really compelling gameplay. We're probably going to back this one, if I'm being honest. It seems really good.
141) Scale Of Survival There's a lot of different gameplay modes here even in the demo, and...look, it's not surprising to say that it's not hugely polished, but the girl is huge, and so is the heart and passion behind it, and you'll know if you're the target here. And if you are? It's endearing.
140) What's the Password? Neat logic game where you're trying to figure out what four numbers make up the password. Had a lot of fun with the demo, with the only big stopping block for us being one we were over thinking because the actual solution didn't actually seem like a puzzle to us.
139) Re:Connect Cute narrative puzzler that has a really charming demo. Enjoyed the story in the demo, and while it definitely seems to have some puzzle elemnts that'll make me scream, the demo puzzles were pretty satisfying and not overly difficult.
138) Lapistasia Neat Tetris-based roguelike. It's cool, and I'm curious to see how it gets expanded out in the full game. It's in the "very solid" camp, but I can't say it hugely leaps out as compelling just yet.
137) Serial World Really fun roguelike monster battler with a lotta neat ideas and framing. Was very taken by this one and definitely want to pick up the full game. Recommend checking it out!
136) ARCHETYPE BLUE This is an *okay* demo, a neat look at someone making something that feels, thematically, very Fate, but we didn't play much of the actual gameplay largely because the scaling was rough and it was just not pleasant to actually play. It's a bit rough, in a charming way, though.
135) Lunchbreak Tactics Ooops, we got tricked into two minutes of Super Auto Pets, sorry, sorry, we won't let it happen again
134) The Loopler Very funny name, but it's pretty neat how well they were able to take the Balatro formula/loop and apply it to a racing format. I wanted to call it an RC car format, but that's not congruent with the theming, and is just my read because of the perspective. Still, this one is cool!
133) Onsento Looks great, but the explanations provided in-game were pretty lacking and it made it a bit too hard to play any significant amount of it. Still, I'd be curious to try an updated demo that's further along.
132) ZWAARD The sword customization here still gets my brain buzzing, but I never got to it in the demo, just didn't gel with the general vibes of the games. Tone just wasn't doing it for me. That sword, though...
27) Soul Blazer Very addictive gamplay loop here that I loved a ton. The framing and story is solid and works well to string things together, but I really geled with the loop of clearing out areas best I could, then going back to what I restored to see what unlocked more progress.
26) Forbidden Solitare I'm always a little down for what this dev group does, and, yeah, this was a really neat one. Compelling bit of solitare gameplay with really good framing and great aesthetics. I definitely recommend giving it a look, it's very charming.
25) Cirno! Lifts a Boulder Super cutecollectathon obby with a pretty compelling progression of abilities. Collecting everything was a little tricky and took some thought, which was pretty enjoyable, and avoided being too frustrating. Really cute one, and also the sort of thing you play in a day.
24) Angel Clicker We got a copy of this to review for our curator page, and I'm pretty glad for that. Not sure we would have otherwise noticed or checked it out, but it was a really fun time that we enjoyed a lot. Not overly long, really good clicker you can devote a day to getting done and dusted.
23) Magical Princess Amazing raising sim, highly recommend. Fantastic art, stellar voice acting, great writing, and really solid ideas. This and Volcano Princess are exemplary entries in the modern era for the genre, and I do think I have to give Magical Princess the edge. It's a Fia-core sim, fr.
22) Revengeful Island An interesting-enough premise, a pretty bad MTL that loses track of itself a lot, and slightly lackluster gameplay do land this one in the kusoge camp, but it doesn't drag on past the point of being unenjoyable, so it's a nice time if you enjoy things that aren't quite good.
Good foxy day, everykon! It's a wet and chilly kind of day, but I like one of those every now and then.
Good foxy day, everykon! Hopefully you can start your week off on a good note today! (I need to put these fox images in a single folder, dang)
Good foxy day, everykon! Today is considerably gooder and markedly foxier than yesterday!
