And it's increasingly obvious that one of the (many) reasons conservatives seem miserable while in complete political control is that they both crave pop culture adoration while simultaneously hating the communities which are largely responsible for the creation of said culture.

I'm reminded of how Joe Rogan made a big spectacle out of his relocating to Austin to escape "Woke CA" while crowing about how they were going to turn TX into some kind of Hollywood replacement. Only to later complain about he and his friends miss all the cultural trappings of Los Angeles.

Over time I've found it to be one of the central contradictions of white conservatives. They want to be able to consume all the cultural outputs of the communities (POC, LGBTQ, etc etc) which create mass popular culture, but also rid themselves of and subjugate those communities in the process.
