i found him in an oily puddle in the street (the toy, not the slumbering beast) and restored him to good condition. i guess i need to make a found poster in case someone is out looking
my sample size thus far. kingdoms of elfin has your covered for the shifting and chaotic realm of relations between people (and elves)...lud-in-the-mist cloaks its intense existential angst behind a plot about the war on fairy drugs
faust is good. i like this translation and this artist's interpretation of a transmogrifying poodle
grey is great! my all time fave bachelor is the wizard from animal parade. duality of harvest man
when reading historical fiction it's important to immerse yourself and interpret vocabulary in its proper context. to react to this passage with anything more than mild amusement at Maturin's silly sluttery would be highly improper
deranged book (positive). gentle romcom movie plot about a single dad finding a place in a close-knit rural community. interspersed with murders and drownings and seal clubbing and the generational curse of an incestuous pirate clan. in other words, what actual close-knit rural community is like
i bought a book rec book with discussion questions for 50 cents because it seemed to hew incredibly close to my own taste. didn't realize at the time the entire book is written like this. re: The Talented Mr. Ripley and Jeeves and Wooster
an unfiltered documentary about a cult favorite british band that abuses substances, grapples with ancient folklore, becomes lost in a labyrinth, has deep troubles with women, and makes a very questionable album art choice. no it's not that, it's this not-quite-horror novella and it was pretty fun!
this one is so troubling. it has rave reviews and adorable spiders. sweeping scope and cool biotech worldbuilding but it spins (yeah) a misanthropic narrative at the expense of the human cast. and you gotta spend half the book with those guys. i hated holsten an impressive amount by the end lmao
what are we, some kind of arknights? (i did no repeats to prevent a wall of ebenholz and thorns)
love the summary on the back of my library copy of the woman in white. escalating from vaguely wrong to straight up making shit up (the woman wasn't lost in London, he didn't report her to the authorities, private detectives are not involved in the story at all, Wilkie Collins was a man)
