As I delve deeper into to leatherworking, one tool that I made to help is a stitching saddle! It allows you to clamp your work and just focus on stitching! I was able to use some reclaimed pallet wood, and just a bit of hardware! #leatherworking #homemade #stitching
Here are the finished pictures of the small jewelry anvil! I finished the clean up with a wire wheel and some flap disks. I then finished with some high temp black paint. Love the 1929 stamp on the rail! Almost 100 years old and still changing! #anvil #jewelry #blacksmithing
For a longer jewelry making project I needed a small anvil. I cut a small section of scrap rail and used electrolysis to start to remove the corrosion! It did a fantastic job getting the red rust off, but struggled with the tougher black rust. Look how different it looks though! #anvil
My partner and I got to attend a fused glass class in a town near us! I'd never heard of glass fusing and holy fuck was it fun! Does it have me looking into building my own kiln? Yes. I took some inspiration from some stained glass windows from childhood! #glass #fusedglass #handmade
Hello folks! Catching up on a few months worth of projects! Spent some time cleaning up an old Singer that inherited from my Grandmother. The thing is an absolute beast with a metal direct drive, and just needed some light dusting and oiling! #sewing #homemade #maintenance
One of the first things I set up in our new place was a wire rack to hold our house plants and my altar! It took a while, but all the houseplants seem to have adjusted to the new environment. Really excited to start propagating houseplants to grow my garden! #altar #houseplants #pothos
My partner and I received a grocery mix up, and one of the things we got was a bone in pork shoulder! We've gotten a new smoker so I got to try smoking BBQ for the first time. Turned out absolutely wonderfully!
Commissioned a metal stamp of my makers mark! It turned out beautifully and was from StampsCustom on Etsy. Absolutely professional and quick feedback! #homemade #makersmark
My plant collection has grown exponentially! Inherited about 50 plants from my Grandmother and have made an absolutely beautiful stand in my kitchen! #houseplants
A couple of really easy breakfasts! One is candied bacon with an egg over medium, and the other is egg-in-a-nest! #cooking #breakfast #bacon #eggs
The Smith-Corona Stirling has its first challenges! I figured out the "Variable Line Spacing Knob" is missing from the left platen knob. Without it, the platen quick release doesn't work. Took some feedback from some kind folks on reddit, but learned that the platen can still be wiggled free!
Picked up two new pothos for my collection. A lemon mirage pothos and a Philo Brazil! I'm absolutely in love with the leaves of the Brazil! The Lemon looks a lot like a pearl and jade pothos, but with more of a yellow. #houseplant #pothos
My typewriter fascination continues! I picked up this Smith-Corona Stirling from a coworker! Looks like it has a lot of gunk, and should be a challenge to clean! #typewriter #manual
A dear friend got me interested in mechanical typewriters! They've got an adorable machine with cursive typeface, and it was fascinating to get a typed letter! I picked up this Adler Universal 200! Made in West Germany and brought over by the Mormons, this baby has had quite the journey!
One of my favorite sandwiches to make during the summer! A Vietnamese sandwich, this one has char siu chicken, dikon and carrot quick pickle, cucumber, jalapeño, and cilantro!
Breakfast hash is the best way to use up leftovers and make a great breakfast! This one is potatoes, spam, bacon, onions, and garlic. Topped with cheddar, gouda, and parmesean! #breakfast #breakfasthash #cooking
Bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on an asiago bagel! Fantastic to make on the weekends, especially with a jammy egg in the middle! #breakfast #cooking #homemade
Made the "No Waste Carnitas" recipe from Serious Eats! Seriously easy recipe with fantastic results. Who doesn't want a whole 9x13 pan of meat?? #SeriousEats #cooking #carnitas #homemade
Couple breakfasts I made last week! Bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and a French omelet with toast! #cooking #breakfast #homemade
Another project is de-bubbaing a Finnish capture 91/30 Mosin! Formally drilled and tapped for an after-market ATI scope mount, I've installed an adjustable Smith Sight front sight and stock rear sight! #mosinnagant #gunsmithing #guns
When you order military surplus, cosmoline is a way of life. Cosmoline does well at preventing rust in long term storage, but holy shit is it a pain to remove. I've had the best luck with a heat gun followed by mineral spirits! This is a No.4 Mk.2 Bayonet for the Longbranch Enfield! #guns
One thing you run into when you're a fan of older military surplus guns is cosmoline. It's fantastic at keeping rust away and gluing everything together. Best way I've found to deal with it is a gentle application of a heat gun and then mineral spirits! #Zastava #cosmoline
The hobby wheel had spun once again and I've pivoted from candles and jewelry back to gun smithing! Picked up a 1944 Long Branch Enfield No.4 Mk.1*. Absolutely beautiful shape. Did a full breakdown and clean! #firearms #guns #LeeEnfield
Followed a recipe from ALF's Kitchen tonight and made Jalapeño Popper Smash Burgers! Two 1/4lb patties smashed with thinly sliced jalapeños and topped with havarti cheese. Nestled between two toasted potato buns and dressed with raspberry bacon jam and whipped creamcheese!
