The inside of each shipping container is programmed with pop-up galleries while the outside is set up to accommodate murals that can be changed out when new artwork is desired. Outside the Box allows work by national and international artists to ignite creativity by exposing the community to art that is not typical to Akron.

Outside the Box is open 24/7 located at TrueNorth Akron, in the Northside District, 110 North Main Street.

Artwork on the mural pictured is by Natalie Petrosky and is called "Portals to Kaufmanns" and features a series of depictions of arched windows. The mural draws from a childhood memory many Akronites will recognize. As Natalie describes it, "A visit to the department store Kaufmann's at Summit Mall as a kid felt like a lifetime spent in circular racks of clothing, crawling around on dirty carpet, looking into another world."
