Australian fuel excise revenue is not declining. We're just giving more of it back as FTCs than ever before.
Dear craftspeople of Bluesky. I need a new tool bag. One that works well for an electrical technician. I've seen all the branded 'tradie' ones but I just really miss my old tool bag. Anyone know someone who does leatherwork, or sews canvas and drill cotton? Happy to pay for something good.
Seems avoiding tax is as Australian as Holdens, meat pies, kangaroos... Whether it's dual cab utes or a new milling machine, generous tax breaks for businesses are unjust. Worse, business actively promotes it.
I was living in Albany in 2016 and went for a walk with my rather loud happy pants on. In the same walk I was heckled by a bunch of louts in a car, and caused the lively din of a balcony barbecue to fall deadly silent, except for some hushed words. The only audible word I caught was '...pants'.
I rode my illegal ebike to the servo to buy some heavily subsidised fuel for my lawnmower which was given to me by someone who bought an electric one.
It's the result of 7 years of half-arseing, three-quarter-arseing, and finally whole-arseing the garden beds with proper structures, weed control and irrigation. 3 cubic metres of blended mature about 12 months ago put a rocket up it too. I managed to make another ~35 jars of tomato sauce too.
Hey @rgleadow.bsky.social My favourite Eucalyptus trees: E. melliodora E. saligna E. mollucana Corymbia callophylla C. ficifolia (Eucalyptus adjacent - homage to my new home in the West) #NationalEucalyptDay2026
I think you need to do as much complexity as you can handle, but understand it's OK to revert to stuff you can manage. Complex solutions to complex problems are hard to convey, but provided you take others with you they'll get it, and we're all better off.
Sign of the times. A new house build in Kalamunda. Powerpoints and a dedicated high current circuit for an EV charge point.
I don't share food photos. It's just not cool when people are being starved (and also cause its a bit gauche) but I do like to share my garden harvests. In part because I'm proud of my effortd, but also to give hope for a future where food, and the capacity to grow it, is in abundance.
Garlic harvest! #gardening And some rather old but entirely edible carrots.
Hey @eepy.bsky.social my first #gardening post of the Southern Hemisphere spring! I lifted one single sod from the potato patch and my word, it delivered!
The anti war rally in 2003 was pretty damn big, but so glad this movement is growing.
I get to drive the car once a week or so, and it's the only way I can listen to Double J. So I voted in yet another hottest 100. I could have picked a dozen songs from a dozen artists, but this is a good life history soundtrack.
