I suppose one may have been able to make this argument in the past, but this laughable in 2026 as federal research funding is mired in political interference.
It is well documented that standardized test are neither transparent nor objective, and are instead correlated with race and socioeconomic status.
If your institution's core purpose does not include supporting the humanity of all of your students, faculty, and staff, your institution is in fact engaged in this "politicization"
Pretending that you do not have a politicsl ideology is in itself a political ideology
It had been nearly a month since I went to see my favorite tall trees, so we fixed that today.
Coffee maker seems to have died, so I dug out the emergency pour over (we learned the hard way that coffee is needed even more when you lose power for several days due to e.g. a hurricane). If anyone loves their drip coffee maker, let me know why---looking for recommendations.

@chadtopaz.bsky.social 's new book has also just earned my elusive "Finished it the day it arrived" endorsement. If you are interested in an engaging, non-technical explanation of how mathematical tools can be used to address social justice issues, I cannot recommend this book enough.
