Somebody got stuck in a moth trap early yesterday morning (I did not photodocument this indignity). She was surprisingly blasé about it.
This little cat asked me yesterday to feed her in my air-conditioned room rather than in the sweltering kitchen (this is her usual spot, acceptable again since the temperature has dropped nearly 20 degrees since her very reasonable request).
This a CAT checkpoint. Show me the most recent cat image on your phone.
The face of a cat who just had a ferocious pitched battle with her own tail.
‘Thippe would like to know where I hid the nice sunny warm snow-free deck
What’s better than sitting in my lap? Lounging on a pile of clean laundry waiting to be folded.
This is one of my favorite pictures of Byron, all flopped out on my bed. I miss him.
This is 'Thippe, tucked into a blanket. I love the way her whiskers are pushed up by the blanket on one side.
Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden or Alice In Chains.
This poor baby shouted at me from across the apartment after midnight this morning to let me know she’d hurt a paw. There was much melodramatic limping. The paw is fine now.
I’ve finally found out why there’s always a mousie toy in my laundry bag. This little laundry goblin fished one out from under the shelf beside her and dropped it in front of her, while sitting in the bag.
Ending #Piemageddon2025 with a pair of chocolate meringue pies. The filling came out lovely, but this are not among my better meringues; I couldn’t get it get it quite to proper stiff peaks. Even worse, the meringues of both pies pulled away from the crust as they cooled (not shown).
#Piemageddon2025 continues with…not actually a pie: behold the banana pudding! For those of you who didn’t grow up with this dessert, it’s kind of like a trifle, composed of layers of vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and vanilla pudding, with a sprinkling of crushed vanilla wafers on top.
Continuing #Piemageddon2025 fruit pie day: cherry pies. Cherry was last year’s disaster pie (if you bake with frozen fruit, defrost it ALL the way before draining it). My shopping buddy found jarred sour cherries, so I’m hopeful these will be good.
#Piemageddon2025 day 2: fruit pies. Two very spicy deep dish apple pies. One of my housemates has a hand-cranked apple peeler-slicer-corer, which really sped up the apple processing!
End of day 1 of #Piemageddon2025: chocolate chess. I seem to have lost the recipe I’ve used before, so I improvised.
#Piemageddon2025 continues with chess pies. I’m hoping I successfully troubleshot the texture issue this time (I beat the eggs extra vigorously)
