Still don’t get why he gets the hate he does. It’s 100% projection of some sort. I’ll never understand it. Go Philly. Beat Boston.
This is from 2018. Just so folks know I’m consistent about this and not “some American who doesn’t understand soccer”. Also our President is a twat.
Lived here nearly 30 years and finally saw the Northern Lights. Crazy to see them out in our front street.
Late to the party, but Dispatch is “phenomenal” (IYKYK). It’s another light on gameplay, heavy on story and atmosphere game. I kept wanting to get through the game portion to get back to the story. Compared notes with a friend and we had significantly different endings which was cool.
Couple of folks have asked me to day, what's going on with the channel. Just a quick update. Nothing dramatic. I went two months without getting any games to the table, and my core group has been playing through Earthborne Rangers again (still loving it).
So thankful to Jamie of @thesecretcabal.bsky.social who turned me on to Mixtape. It’s a short visual novel (ish) style video game with some very smart and deftly executed story telling. Lots of really fun moments. Ambiguous in all the best ways.
Finished Questron (Commodore 64 version). Man.. what a gem. It was super solid start to finish. From the lore/clues in the manual all the way through. My only gripe is the final 15 floor dungeon full of the designer hating the player. Ending was worth it though.
First game night in over two months. I guess that’s what I needed to clear my head and take a win. Played my friend’s deluxe Food Chain. I think that’s the best I ever scored. Almost 300.
Blessed be the comings and goings of the inflated shipping container of air. Miracle of miracles. It all fits… minus the giant playmat. Witness the decanted 40 ounces of malt liquor that is CMON. (Already played and love the base game. This last gasp of expansions closes my relationship.)
40 years later. Never played the original Ultima. Only dinked around with 3 and 4 when I was a youngster. Between this and Mother, I have hankering to play some more "manual-driven" games. There's something very satisfyingly "analog" about playing an offline game where you have to study a manual.
Funny. This guy made some kind of algorithm to match you with a reviewer. I was curious. Made an account, synced my BGG ratings. This guy "Drive Thru Games" was my most matched reviewer. Shocker.
There are more (link below), but these are definitely my favorite pictures from yesterday.
Been sitting on this model since last year. Waiting for the right time to get it done. Took me the better part of a week. I did not bargain for this one. It’s the second MG grade I’ve done but easily twice as much “stuff” as the last one. Definitely worth it. “Life Size” Casval for scale 🤓
First crack at Battletech: Aces today. Jumped into a friend’s campaign. Lots of fun. Going to fire up my own campaign soon. There’s a whole ton of game between the Alpha Strike and Aces boxes. Hard to beat that value.
First time painting Lumineth. Enjoyed the change of pace from the other Darkwater minis.
My friends have been raving about the new Battletech: Aces system. Going to jump into the campaign with them in a couple of weeks. Prepped the models and read the rules to Alpha Strike. Still gotta read Aces. But, they have been very enthusiastic about it. Bounced off Classic. Hope this goes better.
What other board games deserve to be in the Olympics? We really enjoy this when we can stay awake. Appreciate that they cut to scoring rounds during prime time coverage…. ala the Highlights series of games from Mike Fitzgerald and Eagle Gryphon. There’s gotta be a design in here somewhere.
Been out of town and generally “real life” busy lately. Trying to finally carve time to dive into the newest goodies for the “Number One” solo game mentioned in my last video (link below). I’m just calling this Ultimate Warhammer Quest. It’s out of hand. Mistakes were made. The best kind of mistakes
Painted up the four White Dwarf ghouls for Warhammer Quest: Darkwater this weekend. Some ghouls I enjoy painting. Others… I can’t wait to get to a finished-ish state. The rules for these seem super fun though.
It’s been 2.5 years since I last touched a paintbrush. I burned myself out bigtime. This was a super fun project to get back into it with. Who knew painting filth could be so fun. I just hope the game is good!
Got some new Gundams to put together over the holidays. First one down. And finished episode 19 of Iron Blooded Orphans. Easily my favorite Gundam show now. It threads all the notes.
[Spoiler] Still some time to win a copy of Hot Streak, my favorite Game of 2025. Just got the new copy in the mail to send out. I’ll leave the window open for a couple more days. Head over to my Top 10 Games of 2025 video and leave a comment for a chance to win. youtu.be/-e1ivl_WNGM?...
Second time playing Speakeasy. This is Lacerda’s masterpiece. Probably won’t get my own copy until next year, but Game of the Year 2026 is almost a lock at this point. It’s rare that I feel like I can just play around with “stuff” in heavier/ish Euros. But I can with this. It’s so fun.
When you want to watch Gundam but need something to do to keep you busy, the Ayn Thor to the rescue.
