On top of the $3.6 million his company has received from the federal broadband subsidy since 2016, he also received $3.54 million from the FCC through a program that replaces revenue phone companies once earned connecting long-distance calls. The state kicked in an additional $3.75 million through its own subsidy program, the Alaska Universal Service Fund. (Some Adak residents said they continue to pay the company for landlines that they use as cellphone backup.)

Today is Trans Day Of Visibility and I thought I'd share a selfie I took on Saturday when I was feeling v. cute. I'm trans, non-binary, genderfluid, genderqueer. I took T for a while for gender feelings but ended up forgetting to take it for a while and just stopping.

I want to talk about how this skeet frames this concern. Specifically, "where a trans fighter accidentally kills a woman." Would we say "where a blonde fighter accidentally kills a woman" or "where a tall fighter..." if both fighters in question are women? No. This phrasing makes the quiet part loud

I recently found out that the Bay Area Yarn Crawl is coming up and there are 3 cowl patterns for the event, so today I cast on the #FiloliCowl! I'm loving the yarn I got from #AtelierYarn, which is a gorgeous gradient yarn that the charcoal contrast color frames beautifully! I'm on row 100/242.

This is a picture of the cowl I'm currently knitting. It's done with 2 Yarns, one of which is charcoal color and the other is a gradient that goes from pink to purple in this color. The cowl has multiple different textured sections so it's like a fun color party that will also keep my neck warm

Let me reiterate: I do not approve of the mayor locking the doors of the mall and igniting a bus full of C4 in the food court. I may have worn a shirt that said, VOTE FOR THE MAYOR WHO WILL BLOW UP THE MALL FOOD COURT, but that was just my fun way of saying I only cared about the bowling alley.

Growing up, my dad always made black eyed peas and bacon for breakfast on new year's day. The story around the dish is that BEP are "poor" people food, so you eat it once on new year's day to ward off financial struggles the rest of the year. For me, it reminds me of good times with family.

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jenette McCurdy Explicitness rating 5/10 (mentions possible CSA and some not great sex, but no in depth descriptions) If you have a complicated relationship with a family member, this book will make you feel so seen.

But How Are You, Really by @brosandprose.bsky.social Explicitness Rating 7/10 there is sex and it is clearly described but including Kit Rocha novels skews the scale somewhat I love Ella, and this book was SO GOOD as a romance novel that also tackles the thorny issue of abuse.

Consort of Fire by @kitrocha.com (I warned you all that there would be much Kit Rocha) Explicitness rating: 10/10 (including F/F, F/F/M, F/M) Before it had a title, the authors called this the Horny Dragon Book. It's got EVERYTHING, magic, kinky sex, queerness, and overthrowing a corrupt monarchy.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers, first book of the Monk and Robot series Explicitness rating: 2/10 (they mention having sex but it's not described in depth) This book made me want to be a tea monk more than I can possibly explain. Cozy, kind, beautiful.
