As of today, I am done with my Spring 2026 grading and with it, my time teaching at Mount Holyoke 🥂 I have no idea idea what comes next but I've been lucky to work with some wonderful students and colleagues and emails like the below make me feel truly appreciated and grateful for the experience

Dear professor Robinson,

I hope this email finds you well！
I mainly wanted to write to say how deeply grateful I am for everything you have done over the years. Whether it was every class you taught, every assignment you graded, or every thoughtful piece of feedback you gave me, I truly feel that being able to meet you at Mount Holyoke has been something both lucky and precious.

I think you know that Name and I took two of your classes together, Animal Cognition and Animal Personality. She also took Animal Welfare with you during the semester when I was studying abroad in London. If I had been in the U.S. last semester, I probably would have taken that class with her as well.

Although I have never had much opportunity to talk with you and did not speak up very often in class, Name and I have always really liked you. When we chat privately after class, we often mention you, and you are probably the professor we talk about the most. When we were taking Animal Cognition, Name and I said multiple times that we hoped Mount Holyoke would give you a tenure, and we even included that in our very long wishlist for 2025. Name and I will always remember you as one of the best parts of our college life, after we leave Mount Holyoke ourselves, after we leave Massachusetts, or even the United States.

I am not sure whether the paragraph above fully conveys my gratitude, but in any case, thank you very very much. I hope everything goes well for you.

It took 8 years but now the void will allow me to pick her up and pet her on my lap for a whole 3 minutes! She requires patience but arguably the adoption fee is best $40 I’ve ever spent 💜🐈‍⬛ #CatsOfBluesky

Went to a local dairy farm today called Flayvors as part of my animal personality class! The farmer was so generous with his time and we met some gorgeous Jersey calves and had some of their fantastic ice cream 💜🐄🍦

The book I edited recently hit 50k access in three years 🎉📖🐒 Fun fact: The book came about because I won a Springer photo contest on facebook of all places. As part of this, I was offered a free book from their collection and through some social magic, I turned this into an offer to edit a book

There are days, particularly while job hunting, that I doubt that I've done anything meaningful in science and then there are days where I find out the book I edited has been accessed 50k times in 3 years and I feel pretty fucking good

Three weeks since parathyroidectomy and super happy with the results. The scar is beautifully hidden at the base of my neck and the surgeon did a great job

Day 1 after surgery and exhausted but recovering. Because I’m vain I’ll try to treat the scar once I can but because I’m not ashamed of being disabled, I won’t be covering it up with makeup or making an effort to hide whatever it looks like once it’s healed
