Final panel of #INOGS2026. I have learned a lot at this conference about denial of #Indigenous rights in #Brazil, & enforced #disappearances, during the dictatorship & still today, of minority groups, especially Indigenous & young Black males.
After a Brazilian buffet dinner in #Brasilia. Time with colleagues & friends in #genocide studies is so valuable in this difficult & heavy field. #INOGS2026
IAGS colleagues Rhiannon Nielsen & Tim Williams on their fascinating early stage research on #socialMedia posting by those living #Genocide in #Gaza. #INOGS2026
We forgot to get a ‘panel in practice’ photo, but here I am with long-time friend Kjell Anderson. We were a panel, lucky to have extra time to talk about the Genocide Convention in the ICJ (me) & Canada-Brazil Indigenous rights comparison (Kjell). #INOGS2026
Excellent panel on necropolitics in #Russia of USSR bodies killed in Gulags, & missing Black men from outer urban Rio. (203 people go missing EVERY DAY in #Brazil!) #INOGS2026
Listening to the high quality interpretation of Brazilian keynotes & speakers. #INOGS2026
Been more than two years since I got to catch up with @jocelyngetgen.bsky.social, who is doing amazing practical legal work on Indigenous land rights in #Brazil.
Vibrant roundtable on diguised, hidden international crimes within int crim law, with @randledefalco.bsky.social @jocelyngetgen.bsky.social @anthonyghaly.bsky.social
Out for a churrasceria dinner- all you can eat meat! The best part of conferences like #INOGS2026 is catching up with friends who I only see once a year or every couple of years.
#INOGS2026 Conference at Uni Brasilia opens with keynote Prof Edson Teles, on the forensic work unearthing mass graves & investigations into the disappeared from the time of the #Brazil dictatorship.
Absolutely horrified to park behind this car at our local shopping centre today. Found the website, which I won't link here, & it's full of racist & homophobic merch (t-shirts & stickers), which I guess isn't suprising when they support a war criminal. UGH.
ABC lists expected charges, 5 #warCrimes, each of murder, relating to murder of persons in April 2009, Sept & Oct 2012, in various locations in #Afghanistan.
Here are my photos from the highly significant #Stonewall Monument #NYC, which is one of the monuments stripped of its content- references to LGBTIQ+ persons, which is who the entire monument is about/for! Crucial the remember the #history of this location & its role in achieving #humanRights.
Watching #MardiGras & excited to see my dad’s cousin Steve get some solid airtime this year! He’s a 78er but in the MAG float this yr. #ecstatica 🌈♥️🧡💛💚💙💜
Excellent lengthy interview with @katefitzgibbon.bsky.social on ABC News today about domestic violence in the context of the latest murder of 2 women by a man out on bail for DV offences. #endVAW
I love this! ‘Love over gold; curiosity over certainty; connection over separation’ 💕💜
1st session really interesting, (frustrating that I can't watch all sessions live!). Excellent arguments from Gambia, that the #genocide was planned w/genocidal intent by the Tatmadaw hierarichy & carried out by state agents, pattern of violence against distinct ethnic, religious & racial minority
I had the pleasure this week to meet Ken Roth, the former executive director of Human Rights Watch. What a lovely person, who has helmed an organisation so fundamental to my work. & has very helpful advice ! #humanRights
Great game last night; crowd was hyped & it was a lot of fun! & they let us go on the WACA field after the game! #GoScorchers!! #WBBL #cricket www.abc.net.au/news/2025-12...
