Is it bad if I get another aluminum cake pan for Opal when she eventually destroys this one? She really likes the noise. And they're recyclable, if nothing else.

Mostly black cat Opal in a disposable aluminum rectangular cake pan we got in case they couldn't use the litterbox at first. She's got her hind feet sticking out, but is otherwise all rectangular herself. Visible is the inside of one ear, a cute greyish pink. The carpet is gross, forgive me, there's catnip and bits of tracked litter and also our vacuum broke.

Cake. Furry void cake.

Opal the small mostly black cat sprawled in an aluminum sheet cake pan. I put catnip in it to keep the carpet from getting worse while we have a busted vacuum cleaner, and Opal came over, muscled Amy out of the way, and sat down in it. One of her front paws is over the side, and there's some space between her feet, but otherwise she is cake pan shaped. I'm actually not sure this cat has all her bones, she's very container-conforming. The carpet has kitty litter scattered on it, please ignore this.

Pic's a couple weeks old, I don't take them, I just pet the cats. My partner is more at home with photos, but not more at home in general.

Two cats in a window. One is a tortie, that's year old Amy, she has a white chin and neck, and is otherwise pretty fox-like in appearance, she's sitting down looking at her sister. Her sister, a black cat with a white spot on her neck, is stepping off a storage bin to reach the windowsill. The cats are touching, and were both sitting in the window for a little while. The window is a mess, since cleaned up. The windowsill is grimy, I haven't cleaned it. The storage bin contains old Polly Pocket sets that using it as cat stairs keep accessible, because I'm not actually grown up in any way.

Opal has figured out the whole litterbox thing, which is good because my partner keeps forgetting to hang the bathmat on the side of the tub after baths. Yay Opal!

You can see the shaved patch on her belly from the spay surgery. She's sitting upright with her tail wrapped around her feet.

Amy has gone from hiding in inaccessible places to sprawling on my desk so I know she wants petting constantly in three weeks. I feel useful! I feel like we've provided a home for them that they feel safe in, and I am a little proud of that, considering the conditions they were surrendered from.

She's leaning forward with her head on one of the wings, both front paws propped in front of her, with a serious expression. She has patterning that's maybe somewhere between tortie and torbie, I guess. White muzzle, white whiskers, pinky brown nose shaped like a perfect heart. She has green eyes, and is really fluffy. This pic was taken last week when she still wasn't sold on getting close enough to humans for the petting she desperately wants, so there's some suspicion about my partner having a camera in her face. Now she comes up and demands attention, which is delightful.

Cat tax. It's not a euphemism.

Two adorable cats, three weeks in their new home. Please ignore my messy carpet. Laying on the floor stretched out is a tortie cat named Amy, she's about a year old. She has a white chin and white foot socks, and medium length fur. In front of her is a much smaller shorthair black cat Opal, who is about seven months old. She's sitting up, looking at Amy, away from the camera. There's cords and stuff on the beige carpet that they fortunately don't seem inclined to chew on. You can also see a bedraggled cat tree, and part of a bookcase with assorted flotsam including a black and neon pink ceramic bat and a mason jar with some Littlest Pet Shop and Shimmer and Shine toys I moved there after Opal demonstrated they were not safe on top of my computer monitors. The cats get along, and have settled in really well. Opal likes to play and to chew on humans. Amy likes to be petted and brushed. You can still see the shaved patch on Amy's belly from the spay operation, Opal has one too, also a white spot on her chest which makes her a Cat-sith. We got them at the King County Regional Animal Shelter system in Washington State, and count ourselves very lucky, after our beloved nineteen year old black cat Nagi died in February.

Their first Caturday with us. Amy still isn't sure she trusts us, but is willing to give us the benefit of the doubt in exchange for petting. Opal gets really annoyed if she stops getting attention, and will stand there and meow loudly in a high pitched squeal until I go pet her and pick her up.

Amy is looking at my partner, who took the photo. Next to her, sitting upright and looking out the window, is Opal, a black girlcat. Her tail is dangling towards the bin that makes up part of the steps up to the window, this is a clear plastic bin filled with Polly Pocket toys. The wall also needs cleaning as does the windowsill, because it's been a favorite place for all six of our cats to hang out for twenty plus years now and I don't see it much because of the blackout curtains. Sorry.

A female tortie cat curled up on top of her black sister cat in a bedraggled cat tree. The lighting isn't great, and Opal is a void, so you can just about see her ears in the top right. The tortie is very comfortable, with her paws on the edge of the tree. She's half again as big as her sister, but they seem perfectly happy like this. When we first met them at the shelter, the tortie was wedged into the very back with her void sister in front of her meowing for attention. This might be good-natured payback, as I brush Amy a bit but can't get to Opal.

Amy is now sprawled on my desk in front of my screens, protecting me from man-made horrors beyond comprehension. Good kitty.

Small tortie cat, sprawled on her side on a wooden desk, in front of two slightly raised monitors, just past a keyboard and a mouse pad. She's grabbing the mouse cord with one paw, and has her chin wearily on the desk surface. Her feet are stretched out and her tail is across the hind feet. This is Amy, a one year old girlcat. Behind her are two monitors, one is showing bluesky, with a post about the Alabama decision open. The other is showing Cozy Grove, a game much like Animal Crossing, I'm told, though with dead bears. (It's nicer than it sounds.) Amy's tummy is shaved where she just got spayed, she has white feet, the rest of her is mostly shades of streaky brown. She has a white muzzle and white whiskers. Yesterday she was hiding in the tiniest place she could find, now she's tracking kitty litter across my desk in her floofy paw fur. She should be ready for some light brushing soon.

Very small tortie cat. This is Ami, we just got her today and she's being very brave, despite not being sure about this whole new home thing again. She's mostly shades of brown, one forepaw is light brown, the other is much darker. I've never had a tortie before, so I don't really know how to describe them. There's a little bit of tabby pattern on her, but it's mostly very broken up, with an overall darker outer coat, at least on the only side of her I've seen yet. (She's really shy.) Here she's come out from the little hole she found for herself and is laying on her side on the carpet, leaning aginst some small boxes. Her forepaws are on a quilted waterproof sheet, and in front of her is a bin lid we're hoping they can use as a litterbox till they get used to going to the other room and getting into the taller box. Ami has white whiskers and a white spot on her nose. She's small for her age.

Okay, terrible cat picture time! This is Opal, all tuckered out from trying to chew my arm off. And Ami, hiding in the tiniest place she could fit. Opal's either six or eight months, Ami is a little over a year.

Extremely smol black shorthair cat. Her name is Opal, and she's resting in the bedraggled cat tree by my desk. She has both paws up on the edge and is possibly asleep. She looks a lot like Nagi, but shorthair black cats tend to. You can't see, but she has a tiny little white chest patch. Her whiskers are black.

Slightly larger though still tiny shorthair tortie cat Ami. She's wedged herself backwards into a piece of the carpet between a bookcase and a plastic bin. She's looking up apprehensively. She has a white bit on her nose and on her muzzle, and you can see a white paw, the rest of her is shades of brown. She's still nervous about the whole thing, but we'll win her over.

All black shorthair cat Nagi. She's curled on a blanket on the carpet, in a very odd shape. She's sideways, with her head tucked against her front paws, belly exposed, hind legs stretched behind her, and tail hooked into a perfect curl at the end. There's a fang showing, and claws. She was purring wildly in this position, and I wish I could be half that comfortable.

Good luck! 💙 I've had them off and on for almost thirty years, and constantly for the last seven. I'm to the point where I mostly just ignore it because it's always there and I have things to do. But if there's a cat on my pillow purring by my head, I'm not going to complain.

This is Nagi, an all black female cat with short fur and baleful yellow eyes. Shown is one white whisker, the rest are black. She took to trying to sleep on my pillow while I was trying to sleep on it, in the last year or so before she died. I got a bigger pillow, and she was pretty happy about that, it may have been what she wanted all along. Here she is perched half on a gray pillow on the corner of the bed, front paws belligerently folded in front of her to indicate that if anyone should make room on the pillow, it is not her. Behind her is the feet of a small white plush rabbit, in front of her is one of her blankets, a purple fuzzy thing. I still cry when I see it in the closet. Nagi was hilarious, and completely spoiled, of course my pillow was hers.

Us: Well, it wasn't what we had in mind, but oh my gosh, he's adorable and obviously we could not possibly separate them, I guess they're coming home with us. This was one of the best decisions we ever made, even with the ringworm they both developed after a few days.

Two kittens in a plastic bin. One is tabby boy Tora, he's brownish with a very white belly and paws. He sadly died young, but he managed to find a home for his stand-offish sister who later turned out to have some medical issues but still lived almost twenty years. The other is his all black sister. They were curled together in this bin, which was on its side for the girl, Nagi, to shelter in, because she liked doing that. My partner tipped the bin up for this pic, and they both ended up sideways. Tora is very much taking up most of the space and Nagi does not look amused by this. Her tail is sticking starchily out of the bin in annoyance. Tora did have a habit of crawling into her hiding spaces after her and chewing on her neck. (No injuries.) It was adorable.

If you want a sense of how adopting cats usually goes, we've adopted shelter cats twice (and kept a stray that just turned up on our doorstep.) First time: This cat likes us, and would like to not live with other cats, she's coming home with us.

All black cat with medium length, silky hair and big paws. This is Cypress. She is shown sitting on a light-colored carpet strewn with fur and cat grass, in front of the patio door, staring directly into the camera with her huge yellow eyes. We had her ten years before she got cancer, which led to three years of litterbox accidents and me going on prozac because she couldn't stop pooping on the carpet and it was easier for me to just relax about the whole thing. I did not want to spend *any* time annoyed with her, knowing she wasn't likely long for the world. When she died, we were heartbroken, though our other cat was pretty okay with it; they'd never been friends.

This is Iala, a black and white longhair cat. She's shown here through a glass patio door, looking out. On the glass in front of her is a small brown frog and it looks very much like the frog is clinging to her nose. Iala turned up on our doorstep, convinced she lived there. She followed me around if I left the house, and nearly got hit by a truck doing that, so we put her on our balcony and got her to the vet for tests and put up posters to see if anyone claimed her. They did not, and this was their fucking loss. She was the most good-natured cat I have ever met, and she gave us twenty awesome years, even after we brought in kittens when she was ten or so. She also did not enjoy being brushed, which is why I'm hoping for a shorthair cat. But she was so soft to pet. We were rarely allowed to touch her belly, which she insisted on tempting us with by sleeping on her back. She had the longest whiskers and the furriest snow leopard paws ever. Cypress was not amused when we decided we were keeping her, but they navigated it okay, mostly on the strength of Iala's sweet temper.

Okay, I have finished everything but the leg, shoulder, and torso. With a cat incoming, it will probably get put away for a while, because needles and string. #Xenomorph

Very large, very badly lit, cross stitch in a bigass hoop. (It's, like, eighteen inches, very unwieldy.) The pattern, bought from etsy, is of a xenomorph, the alien from the Alien movies. It's done in a piecework stencil style, and depicts it sitting, with its tail curled around it. It's all outlined, so I've just been filling parts in as I had time. The head, siphons, and part of the tail were done with embroidery floss, the rest is just black polyester thread because it looks the same, is cheaper, and doesn't tangle. Left undone is the upper leg (pretty big area to cover), the shoulder, not that big, and the torso, which is probably about the same size as the leg. Inside the outlined torso is a small block of extremely tiny Xs, with a US dime next to it for scale, they're about the same size. The block represents an hour's worth of work, a hundred and seven tiny Xs. I'm leaving that part for last because it keeps me from going "I only have a little left on this part, so I'll just finish it before I go sleep." I can measure how much I can do in an hour against "just that little bit left" and remind myself it's two hours' worth of work, and go the fuck to bed. It's a ridiculously huge piece. I'm probably gonna leave the non-alien parts unembroidered, despite the aida cloth being kind of off-white.

The anxiety has mellowed into the "absurd fussing with things" phase. I just washed these and will hang them back on my wall, out of reach of kitties, when they dry. Yes, all my ornaments stay up year round.

Four Hallmark Halloween ornaments. These are, I dunno, spooky babes or something. They're all long curvy ladies made to look like famous monsters. There's a vampiress with long black hair in a slinky black dress, drinking a glass of blood. A witch in a short black dress with striped green leggings, a black hat, a broom, a book, and orange hair. A devil in a long slinky red dress, with orange hair, holding a trident. And a ghost with green skin in a long white dress that comes to a point at the bottom, with white hair and a link of silver chain across her torso. They're probably resin or something. Glitter is prominent on all the dresses.

Annoyingly visible in the reflection is my phone and a bunch of laundry stuff hanging, because I took the picture with it laying flat on the washer. Some of the laundry stuff makes it kind of look like there's white rays coming off his hand, there's not.

Dishes done, still haven't dealt with the cat carrier. We've agreed we're not ready to adopt this weekend anyway, but it still has to be taken care of because it's sitting on the living room floor making me cry. I really miss my buddy.

Her head is upside down, this is the pose that made me think of a hognose snake playing dead, and it was occasionally worrisome, though she mostly did it when she was feeling relaxed on catnip. You can see a couple of white whiskers there. She was a wonderful cat, and I still can't believe she's gone after almost two decades with her.

Here's the flower shop model from an old site called Paper Museum. I downloaded it, printed it out, cut it out, and glued it together.

A little shop made out of cardstock. There's a raised floor, and side walls, and a green awning that says Flower Shop. Glued to the back and side walls are plants in baskets made of paper, basically just flat images. There's a large glass and metal flower cooler in the corner of the shop, also made of paper. It's filled mostly with orchids and lilies. On a little stool, a riser, and a large table are other plants. Smaller ones have little paper baskets between essentially sandwich board-style bouquets of different colorful flowers. Larger bouquets are just a piece of paper printed with flowers of various kinds, folded to look kind of like they're sitting in buckets. There's also a watering can on the table. Scattered in the shop are large plants in angular pots, and also a christmas tree which might be from one of the french cottage sets, but whatever.
