I am the Dungeon Newb's Guide! I teach and talk about TTRPGS! By day I am a voice actor! You might hear me in video games (Payday 2, Joyville 2, etc...) or on Youtube! He/Him/? and a proud pansexual dynamo! Compassion 1st, BLM, free Palestine, all the good
I think I've spent more time tinkering with and getting deep into SO MANY VTTs than most anyone I know. I've sunk hundreds of hours each into Foundry, Roll20, and Alchemy. But god damn if I keep just coming back to Owlbear Rodeo. Just having all the info for everyone is just...so perfect.
Don't get me wrong, they were still like...pretty tasty, but biting into a burrito and pulling out a big broccoli floret is weird as shit. I know most menus are built around meats, but it isn't THAT hard to come up with some decent, cheap alternatives that aren't a fucking California veggie medley
Had to step outside to take out the garbage and take care of a couple things for less than a minute, and genuinely I already feel the effects a little (doesn't help I have some minor lingering lung issues). If you're in the smokey areas, be careful. This crap is no joke!
We've had Verizon In-Home 5G internet for a couple years now, no complaints. It's been smooth as could be. The last month or two, it has been BAD. Real bad. We look, and oh, hey, there is now a higher-speed tier available for $25 more a month, reaching speeds...we used to just get. HOW CONVENIENT.
The more I play Public Access, the more I desperately want to play even more. This is absolutely some of the most fun I've had running a TTRPG, and that is saying something! Seeing my players come up with the story, and then twisting it on them in weird ways is just...[chef's kiss]. 10 outta 10.
I was fully prepared for Mina the Hollower to be a bit challenging, but I was not prepared for just how much of a challenge! But damn if they didn't include an absolute buffet of accessibility options for people to cater their experience however they might like! This image is like 20% of 'em.
Don't worry, this is mostly a joke. I mean, I'm not feeling mentally *great* today, but I'm not awful. Sometimes a mood like this is just an opportunity for self-reflection and a reminder to stop and process days of mental backlog. You don't have to be concerned, I just wanted to make a silly. <3
Caught a different song of their that I was obsessing over, but then the internet maybe ruined it... Apparently there's a decent chance Frugit uses AI in their music. Rapid releases, certain aspects of the music fit AI, and then their refusal to address if it's AI when asked except sort of here...
If you are in the Twin Cities and want to connect with a community while playing/learning a new TTRPG, then come to Roll 4 Community! This Friday from 5-8pm at Angel Food Bakery and Coffee Bar in St. Louis Park! Games run by myself and @sheerspec.bsky.social!
Did I spend hours in the @alchemyrpg.bsky.social system builder creating a fully loaded module for an upcoming game of Public Access? Yes. Am I absolutely delighted with the ambience and flow of it all, to the point where I can hardly wait for our first session in a week? Also yes.
My ship looks like a flying brick, but I love it. I am not considering turning it into a flying 3 story building. Because I FUCKING CAN AW YEEAAAAHHHHHHH
Yep! There are a few books that will use the same characters that are...pseudo-sequels, but still work great as stand-alone books. Funny, clever, and just a fun take on fantasy. Death is actually one of, if not the, most recurring (side) characters in the entire series, and is always a delight.
Immediately made me think of one of my all-time favorite Discworld moments/quotes...
Outrage content is exhausting. "Ooo, can you believe we posted this? Are you replying with how silly an article this is? Oh nooo, please, stop all the engagement." Just walk away. Ignore them. They want you to think it is dumb. They love that you hate it. They are *desperate* for you to hate it.
I will always attempt a little patience and compassion, but I have to admit, even I'm getting worn down with this. I know, I should just ignore the comment and move on. I just can't help but hope it maybe, maybe reaches someone. Probably not, but I'll still try. Do NOT harass this person, please!
When I renovated a room in my basement to be my studio, I knew it would be a little chilly down here in the winter. But holy shit the cement floor is cold when it feels like -40F outside. Even with my house shoes and socks on, my feet are COLD. Send more space heaters.
Not gonna lie, I only gave this like a 20% chance of working, and with just two Oreo Thins I did have to add just a pinch of sugar... That said, it's pretty damn good 😅
When I say I genuinely love the old Street Fighter movie, it is 90% because of Raul Julia, for his awesome performance, dedication, and passion. An absolute treasure.
I see videos of people's TTRPG rooms with huge tables, and I kinda laugh, because I would never want that. See, most of the games I play don't require a tabletop. In fact, my ideal set up would be a huge u-shaped sectional. Keep your huge tables and battlemaps, my dream TTRPG room has one of these!
Remove the colon after "BREAKING" and I think you have a more accurate title. Can hardly wait to see how poorly they can make it run.
Well, since I'm seeing this, here is the correct answer. And if I see one "MINNESOTA TOO COLD" comment, know that my eyes will roll right out of my fuckin' head.
I know it would be...stupidly expensive and not worth it, but once upon a time I dreamed of having a bluray Jukebox that could hold and play all the discs and would like...rotate through and display the jackets. Maybe just a digital display, so you could load it with digital files as well. I dunno
Me: "Designing a quick logo for this community TTRPG project should be easy. I've learned a thing or two over the years." The Logo, after an hour of work:
Today had been a much, much needed rest day, where the most difficult thing I've done is bake a simple boule de campagne. This? This is healing.
I worked at a bakery/deli, and when I see pullmans I think of sandwich loafs. For those not in the know, a sandwich loaf is... a cake, but it's bread with different sandwich slops (chicken salad, ham salad, etc) in between, and cream cheese for frosting. It's horrifying...but good...but awful.
