🚨🪲🏆 The news is out! Our study has won the 2026 @entsocamerica.bsky.social Environmental Entomology People’s Choice Award! 🎉 Congrats, Abraão et al. and thank you to everyone who voted for this beautiful work. We are incredibly grateful! 🪲🌿 See other winners here: academic.oup.com/insect-scien...
🚨🪲🧫🌿 New preprint out! We talk a lot about obligate symbionts in insects, but what about environmentally acquired bacteria? Could they also help insects expand their nutritional capacities? Are they truly transient? Are insects transmitting more pathogens than we know? 🤯 🔗 doi.org/10.64898/202...
Legend has it that if you had a piece of cake, you’ll publish in The @plantdisease.bsky.social journals before #PlantHealth2027 🤭
We want your science! Publish in our @plantdisease.bsky.social journals! 💚 @mpmijournal.bsky.social @plantdiseasej.bsky.social @phytobiomesjournal.bsky.social @phytofrontiers.bsky.social @planthealthprog.bsky.social
🚨🪲🧬🦠 We have a new preprint out! Link: doi.org/10.64898/202... Insects and microbes are more connected than we realize. Some insects owe part of their ability to feed on plants to genes acquired from bacteria millions of years ago 🤯 See what we found about glycoside hydrolases in leafhoppers.
Last week, I had the chance to work with @virgimiguel.bsky.social on an incredibly exciting project that the @aspbofficial.bsky.social Early Career Committee is putting together! Thank you for the invitation and for the opportunity to talk about our research. Can’t wait to share more. Stay tuned! 🌱
Early morning at CBC Québec AM talking about our exciting work on the diversity of leafhoppers in the Canadian Arctic 🦗❄️ Always a pleasure to share how biodiversity research helps us better understand our rapidly changing northern ecosystems. 📄 Research article: share.google/LsV9N9aFCcOa...
Legend has it that if you had a piece of cake, you’ll publish in @plantphys.bsky.social before #PlantBio27 🤭
Excited to see our @elife.bsky.social study featured by Hybrigenics at #PlantBio26, together with the groundbreaking research from @saskiahogenhout.bsky.social 🌿 Thanks for the spotlight!
Ottawa, here I go! Can’t wait to see the @aspbofficial.bsky.social/ @cspbscbv.bsky.social gang! 🌿🧬
Can’t wait to see the face of my students trying these delicious salty liquorice Danish delicacies🤭
Preprint alert! 🚨 Our chromosome-level genome assembly (and reference for the species) of the potato leafhopper Empoasca fabae is out! 🍃🧬 An important resource for the community to explore the biology of this fascinating migratory pest 🪲 Study here: doi.org/10.64898/202...
What better way of concluding #SMBE2026 than submitting a manuscript to @genomebiolevol.bsky.social 🪲🧬
Rookie mistake! Since #SMBE2026 was my first SMBE, I booked my flight too early 💔 I’m sad to miss one of the plenaries I was looking forward to the most, @mexpositoalonso.bsky.social. Lesson learned for #SMBE2027 😉 in our beautiful Québec City. SMBE is officially a must-attend for my lab! 🍁
Another outstanding plenary at #SMBE2026! 👏 Microbes in our gut can adapt incredibly fast… but sometimes they need a little help 💩😅 A truly thought-provoking talk! 🔬 Read one of the groundbreaking studies shared today here: doi.org/10.1038/s415...
Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦 Eight years ago, Canada gave me a chance to build a new life. Since then, this incredible country has given me more opportunities, support, and hope than I could have imagined. I couldn't be more grateful to call Canada home, proud to be Canadian! 🍁💚
Ancient human genetics is such a fascinating field! 🤯🧬 Another outstanding plenary on Day3 of #SMBE2026 One of the highlights was this beautiful study uncovering the complex cultural and genetic interactions that accompanied the Neolithic expansion into the Aegean👏 www.science.org/doi/abs/10.1...
The Graduate Student Award Symposium was absolutely incredible! 🤯 The quality of the science was outstanding. I certainly don’t want to be in the judges’ shoes! #SMBE2026 🧬
I’m so inspired! Is amazing to see what consistency, curiosity and hard work can do! Amazing plenary by Prof Emma Teeling at #SMBE2026 🦇🧬🦠

Congratulations, Jordanne! 🎓✨ Jordanne is continuing with us as a Research Professional. I sincerely hope we’ll have the opportunity to work together for many more years! I can’t wait for Convocation 2027, when we’ll have the joy of celebrating so many EdeLab graduates! 🎉💙 - merci @ulaval.ca ❤️💛
Sometimes I forget the impact that a simple training opportunity can have on young people from developing countries. Back in 2012, these German professors made me fall even more in love with plants and molecular biology. (Going down memory lane while preparing my CSM Thermo Fisher award lecture)
Happy to see this collaboration led by Tim Dumonceaux, with key contributions from @tpellegrinetti.bsky.social during his time in the lab! 🎉 Congratulations to everyone involved! 👏🧬🌱 Open access manuscript in Microbial Genomics: doi.org/10.1099/mgen...
Wild Lab! Taking a well deserved break! Cool things coming if Reviewer 1 agrees 🫣😅
