Today in “Can Five-Day-Old Robins Throw Temper Tantrums,” here’s a sequence with one getting in Mom’s face because she wasn’t bringing the goods fast enough. Mom can only back away in stunned admiration of her youngster’s display. It worked; she flew off and brought a worm back. 🐥 🤬 🪱 🪶 #nikon
Beacon Hill, Boston, October 1976. I’m unpacking after my move and came across this photo I’d taken of a closed lunch counter. The Coke sign is nice, but that beat-up box is what made this a keeper. Even back then, it was a nice nostalgic feel. Miranda camera, Tri-X, no other exposure info though.
A lucky local squirrel got to cool off on this hot Minneapolis afternoon by coming across a nice blob of melted chocolate ice cream near Central Ave. It licked up a good portion and waddled off. #squirrel #squirrelsaturday #squirrelsofminneapolis
A while back, I was in a thread here about where we'd most rather be. People talked about all the usual suspects, the great cities and best national parks. I said, "In a window seat at cruising altitude."
If you see this, post something orange from your gallery. When I posted this on Facebook a while back, I gave it the caption: “How would you like your eggs this morning?” “Clownish, please.”
We guys do the same thing with our clothes. The worn out one that’s become a favorite or the newer one that still needs a little breaking in? From October 2015.
If you celebrate, happy Easter. (The photo isn’t mine, but it’s my cover photo on Facebook every Easter, so why not here, too.)
Always happy to post my cat on Caturday. I’ve always loved the symmetry of my arm with her foreleg in this pic.

Since it’s Caturday... I ordered a wineglass with my friend’s cat’s face engraved as a gift and sent a black-and-white photo for them to work with and apparently the people at the engraving company have never seen a cat
Either daydreaming of a time when she won’t need to rehearse for Caturday or staring at a fly on the wall.

@dmercer.bsky.social I'm visiting NE Minneapolis and thought you'd like a glimpse of this turreted house at NE 18th Ave and Lincoln St NE. Stopped me in my tracks.
NGL, after Aquatennial this summer, I risked missing a bus home to get this photo. Every time I see the building, I see more photos waiting to happen.
From my dining room window not far from the Expressway in Chicago. I would have seen a lot less from street level, and with all the lights out, I didn’t have any reflections to deal with.
When I was in Minneapolis this past summer, I really appreciated these stairs, for many reasons.
