It is 2012, I have purchased Bravely Default for my portable gaming system. It is 2026, I have purchased Bravely Default for my portable gaming system.

Loved the unfolding mystery of the light doom that has affected the towns you deliver to. Jammed to the radio stations and their smooth tunes as I navigated a winter storm. HATED the secrets requiring fiddly driving physics to reach that reminded me of MASS EFFECT's Mako. Overall: great time!

Why does the game turn into a speedrun boom shoot in one chapter? Thing is though: I was never bored. Even when I questioned some of the half-baked gameplay design, they never stuck around long enough to annoy me (game's pretty short) and I was having fun with the silly plot and characters!

Add in the multiple characters you can play as (Falconer FTW, Radical in close second for when I just want the game to play itself), the utterly broken and/or fun combo of balls to find, (Nuclear Bomb x Maggot is very silly) and a city builder? AND New Game+? There is a lot of game to love!

The fact that I've solved all (?) the mysteries the game has to offer (some of the puzzles are nicely noodle-y what lean on the fourth wall) and I'm still playing (well, idle-ing) speaks to the compelling quality of "numbers must continue to go up"ness of the gameplay loop. Floor 10k awaits!

And of course, for the inaugural game to play on my Steam Deck, I decide to try out an untested 7th generation classic (?) CLIVE BARKER'S JERICHO and holy shit it works oh no. oh no do I have to play the game now?

That my Steam Deck arrived on the same dat as theeeeeese must be some kind of portent. I still can't believe we're getting a new STAR CONTROL game in the future (now renamed to the FREE STARS series). God, I'm old.

The continuing adventures of the LEGO USS Enterprise D's construction... continues... Bag 12 down, which means I'll be finished with the main body by next week! And more importantly: Geordi is here!

Another weekend and I've put in another couple of bags into the construction of the LEGO USS Enterprise D! I finished bag 8 but opened bag 9 once I saw there was another minifig inside and lo! There he is! The man himself: Commander William T Riker!

All right bag four down and while I'd have liked to get bag five out of the way I think I'll put the build on pause for now - my back and shoulders hurt from sitting on the ground so long, which sure is an awful thing to have to deal with, woof.

I'm up to bag four now and have finally unlocked another minifig! And it's, disappointed sigh, Wesley...

Looks like they've split up and hidden the minifigures in different bags so it might be a while before I get the entire Enterprise D crew together, boo. Still, here's Dr. Beverly Crusher!
