Sounds like he found what he was good at, maybe even liked it, but was otherwise unimpressed with and nonconformant to showbiz shenanigans. Good on him. Read this in the obit in my paper:

The leaders just crossed the Dordogne again, using the normal road bridge at Saint-Cyprien. There's also a smaller bridge for cyclists and pedestrians, with a war memorial AKA anti-Nazi monument. Both bridges and the monument:

Ok, Domme is not so steep. Depends on your speed I guess! Mine was SO high that it felt VERY steep ;) Here's the view high up on a rocky outpost in Domme over the Dordogne valley, and the local tram.
The leaders are almost in Vitrac where they cross the Dordogne and go right towards the short steep climb of the citadel of Domme. Just outside Vitrac: Maxime Monfort's family castle.

They will cross the Vézère very soon in Thonac. When they cross it again a little while later in Le Moustier it'll be via this bridge:
I was never in Lascaux but we visited a few other caves with prehistoric paintings. Still extremely impressive, it was very moving to be there. Like here in the Grotte du Sourcier in Saint-Cirq (Les Eyzies). No pictures allowed inside.
