Still tinkering on SOAR, my attention has turned to the narrative mechanics as i've found them lackluster in play, we're instead opting for d6 pools with 4+ being hits, and a system to spend "surplus hits" on stuff like this
What do you mean you've not heard of these psp classics?
Remember how they had a Driver game on the psp? You don't? Oh well here it is anyway
I honestly don't remember much of it other than it being super repetitive and also not being very good, but SOME of the art was crazy
Thinking back on how the psp had the most copaganda game series of all time with Pursuit Force
Electrical Diagrams kinda look like Cleopatra's familly tree if you squint
Would you trust The Company to not put its profits first? Do you believe the Wolves know anything other than violence? When the Cops start taking names and breaking bones, can you stand up to them? Welcome to Portside. #SOAR #TTRPG Art snippet by @skycrime.bsky.social
"how much of a sidescroller?" Well kinda that much. So how will this work in practice? The player will get to go first, activating all their pieces in order, which is likely going to be 2 or 3. Then all enemies go, they'll be in bespoke formations with initiative numbers to tell you their order
Got some industry vet feedback about SOAR soon, but something that's come up is that it could do with less. So naturally while waiting on more info, I decided to start working on a sort of Side Game for SOAR: What if it was a solo sidescroller ttrpg? Anyway, witness what I have thus far
Its even on their marketplace, if the system doesn't qualify for the Zero AI label, why does the adventure that uses it do? That's very misleading!
I will also say: this is VERY disappointing because they made a very big deal out of Ember (the adventure using Crucible) not using AI at all, and it itself also has a no ai tag on their marketplace, so that's kinda misleading if the system it is using actually does use AI?
Was looking up Crucible earlier because I was curious about a game made specifically for a VTT and, criticism aside, I got shown this: And its really disappointing, sorry, why are you using AI at all here?
And the other faction is The (Wolf) Pack, a criminal gang that's full of people using different weapons, with a lot of animal names, like Crossbow Ocelot, Dagger Fennec and Puppy
Hello, i'm back, and I have more, since last time I've made two new factions. One of them is a Baseball Fan Faction, they have a spotter who does hand signs to the others so they hit you harder, and a mad pitching machine that's been overclocked.
Evangelion but instead of turning into Tang, humanity turns into Nickelodeon kid's choice awards slime.
I'm thankful for my players putting up with my bullshit and letting me run what is essentially danganaceattorney in CAIN
Just watched Free Guy and here is some choice screencaps to make sense of the suffering:
Guy who reinvented Drunken Boxing from first principles.
After running a mini campaign of SOAR, I think one thing that jumped at me was that a lot of the basic enemies lacked character, and because of this it was hard to feel inspired by them to make fun encounters, I think. Here is my solution to fix this: I'm doing factions.
How it feels to be into Like A Dragon/Yakuza related stuff recently
I finished of the Devil's second episode earlier this week, once again cannot overstate how much @nthcircle.bsky.social understands exactly what makes mystery novels pop, between the excellent writing and incredible art from @evillittlebug.bsky.social, the game is amazing
Take the Stone Style attack, for example, which very much punches above its weight because it double dips damage on its target compared to the one I shared earlier, which is designed to put people into threshold of defeat around it more easily, do that and 2 more damage and its like a strong hit!
Most strong hits deal 4 damage, a fair few npcs have 8 Harm, meaning these are two strong hits away from defeat. Additional damage comes in two forms: either 1 or 2 added damage, or 3 if its hard to reuse (like breaking a window) meaning that if you do a strong hit, through a window, with +1 damage
And now that this has sat for a day or so, let's talk about what i've done about this in my game i'm making. First of all, we don't have rolled damage, we have damage profiles, as in, you roll a bunch of d6 and it tells you what damage you'll do depending on their result, here's an example.
its never been more true than in this game lmao, I think i've seen every single character thus far do this exact face
Something deeply funny about this image being used for you Also EASY sell for a game
