Gen X spinster aunt. Idaho to Louisville. Corporate drone from 8-5; devastatingly quiet from 5-8. Learning Mandarin. Going for a hike. Let's take better care of each other, okay?
Okay, it is very cool that The Kentucky Theatre is having a watch party for the World Cup Finals and I am jealous.
2026 Book #23 bell hooks: The Last Interview and Other Conversations A collection of excellent interviews. This was a great reminder that I still have a lot of bell hooks left to read.
Sometimes I process my stress through Korean action movies. (And/or I decided I wanted to familiarize myself with Ma Dong-seok.) #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched
An exception to every rule, etc. I love this photo. I've been looking at it for ten years.
Still life with being spoiled rotten, courtesy of having a great friend like @soclizzard.bsky.social who brightened my whole day with salsa and jams. What a beautiful surprise!
2026 Book #22 Kauai: The Separate Kingdom By Edward Joesting Purchased from the Kauaʻi History Museum in Lihue. I learned a lot! (but... this history was written in the 1980s and it might be time for another historian to tackle Kauaʻi's history with fresh eyes.)
Also, first contact! "We demand as tribute a portion of all your local goods and also could you have your local artists make us a fancy feather banner of our favorite ghostly mother and child gods? That would be great."
Yes I made my World Cup Bracket in Google Slides no I don't recommend you do it this way
Okay, I'm late and South Africa v Canada already started, but here is my messy Google Slides bracket 🤣
I have a new appreciaton for taro fields after ten minutes of cat-and-mouse chase sequences under the giant leaves. From the 2026 cdrama The Devil Between us. #除恶
#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched I had A Company Man (2012) mixed up with A Bittersweet Life (2005) which contributed to my mixed feelings here. Backrooms? Lured in by a McDonald's ad and zero lore, I found it soothingly familiar: Oh hi 1990s nostalgia plus my brain's endless maze dreams.
Go, chrysanthemum farm, go! (I think they are getting too much rain, though.)
Happy Father's Day to my dad, who is 72, but snorkels so hard and fast and solo that we kept losing track of him, causing me several times to swim out to random bald men floating in the distance to check on him. We couldn't find the guy who sold him a coconut in 2002, but we found another guy!
In an alternate existence, I live on the island of Kaua'i, making crispy and flavorful snacks.
