My first collection purchase was the matching gravy boat, sans ladle - I didn’t know at the time it was supposed to have a ladle, and sometimes I consider buying one, but to be honest I think they look worse displayed together

The matching Franciscan Starburst gravy boat, in a sharper photo. It’s a tall, roundish gravy boat rather than a low, canoe-like one, permanently attached to a saucer, with several blue and green starburst designs visible. The handle of a ladle is sticking kind of awkwardly out the spout end, like the gravy boat is sticking out its tongue at you.

Would you guys like to see a terrible photo of a gravy ladle

A terrible photo of a Franciscan Starburst gravy ladle, from an eBay listing. The ladle is a speckled cream color, with a cool yellow starburst where the bowl meets the stem. The photo is generally kind of blurry, and specifically has a weird blurry aura around the ladle so it appears to be glowing.

I painted this little shrine at the paint-your-own-pottery a little while ago and never got a good photo of it while it was sitting empty, but yesterday Zack put Pikachu in there and it’s like it was made for him

I guess Ignis Vindicta's theory here is that, if the Python doesn't voluntarily put his own ankle monitor control gadget on, he'll just shoot him with drones, but I feel like there are some potential flaws in this plan

In honor of the occasion we opened the Jaws blue wine spritzer

A bottle of Jaws blue wine spritzer sitting in the surf on a beach. There’s a swimmer printed on the front of the bottle at the level of the liquid inside, and the rising shark is printed on the inside of the back label so you can see it through the wine, making the bottle resemble the movie poster. I can’t emphasize enough that the wine is blue.

Zack got me a mini “fruit and floral” set of flavored syrups and I made a blueberry hibiscus soda, which is I have to admit not the most beautiful beverage I’ve ever seen, but it tastes good

A pint glass mostly full of soda that is… sort of grey, honestly? It looks a little more purple in person but grey is still definitely the dominant color story. If you saw someone drinking this you would not think “wow, that looks so summery and refreshing.” It is, though.

A Lucha Underground could not work today, for the same reason a PWG could not exist today in the same form. Lucha Underground existed because WWE dramatically undervalued certain groups of wrestlers - Mexican wrestling among them, but definitely not limited to them - and so they were available to sign (long, bad) contracts for a startup promotion. WWE never really fixed this mistake until AEW came around and fixed it for them. It's just not possible today. Someone could intent to start a new Lucha Underground promotion with the twenty or so wrestlers who were part of Dominik Mysterio's entrance at Wrestlemania, but 2/3rd of them would be scooped up by WWE or AEW before they made it to TV, if only to make sure the other side didn't get them. (highlighting begins) And the people who remain wouldn't be able to compete with the rosy and not completely realistic memories people have of Lucha Underground. There's a quote that I'm probably getting wrong here - "a man can't step in the same river twice, because it's a different river and it's a different man." (highlighting ends) It's been eight years since the last Lucha Underground episode. The world is a lot different; the people are different, and even Lucha Underground would be different if it had survived to 2026. I hope it is the old episodes going up on YouTube so people can enjoy them again, but nothing's ever going to be quite like what those were.

“Fire Sun Just Painting Painting, Tree, Three Clouds, Cherries, Pineapple,” but we can call it “Fire Sun Just Painting” for short

A chaotic finger painting, mostly in reds and purples but with a few blobs of yellow and blue. There are a couple of places where an adult was instructed to help paint, most notably a recognizable red pineapple on the left side of the painting.

I started asking Willie what to call his paintings and I gotta say I recommend it. This is “Rainbow November Little Mole”

Willie saw this Pikachu model kit I bought and wanted to help with it, so I spent tonight assembling little pieces into bigger chunks that he can help me put together. The result looks like Dr Frankenstein is building a Pikachu in his lab but I think the kid will be excited.

A tray of click-together plastic Pikachu parts, laid out more or less in the positions they will go together in. There are both a happy face and a fierce face to choose from.

One of our hardware store succulents is BLOOMING!

A small potted succulent - I don’t know what kind, sorry - with a cluster of dozens of flower buds growing out of one stem. Just one bud has opened, to display a star-shaped white flower.

The same succulent, but now with more flowers! Ten or twelve flowers have opened, and there are still lots more buds to go.

We went outside before it got dark to put water in various containers and see what freezes, and the rainwater in the water table was already starting to freeze
