"True Blue Labour has never been tried." In effect, Tony Blair is advocating going to the right of David Cameron.
This keeps confusing me: the current FCAS dispute is approaching a year. Every signal is that *nothing* has moved since then. Presumably, for TEN DAYS to make a difference, the mediators must feel they're near an agreement? What can realistically be achieved in 10 days? www.zeit.de/politik/ausl...
"I'm asking myself: what am I observing?" Leave it to the Belgian Defence Minister to summarize the state of FCAS. Via @euractiv.com (www.euractiv.com/news/belgium...)
I know I’m new to Berlin politics, but I find it quite astonishing to see politicians adopt maximalist pro-car stances when the air quality map not infrequently looks like this.
So the article says ”Israel’s goal is a systematic degradation of the Iranian regime and its military sites.” 1- Is that also the US’ goal, or just Israel’s? 2- Is degradation the end or means to an end? 3- Is that just a temporary situation then that will be repeated to maintain the ”degradation”?
Some of my comments on Germany's loitering munitions contract and changes to the Bundeswehr's procurement, on @deutschewelle.dw.com's Berlin Briefing with @ninahaase.bsky.social. @dgap.org
Game, set, and match Mette Fredriksen. The idea that Lindsay Graham is a respectable and responsible senior official should have been buried years ago. Case in point once again. And European leaders - collectively - should not tolerate such outrages. www.berlingske.dk/internationa...
With that first sentence, they really decided to go for "Bond villain" vibes - The world is not enough, etc.
F-Casse? From the moment the Airbus defence CEO is on the record about it, it seems quite clear. Now, what happens to the rest of FCAS? (More details about the project in my @dgap.org memo last summer: dgap.org/en/research/...) Via @politico.eu Playbook www.politico.eu/newsletter/b...
1. No it didn't. 2. It's not resolved. Is there any indication anyone has agreed to anything, chief about it Denmark and Greenland?
"If he goes to war he will destroy a mighty empire", as the famous oracle of Delphi goes.
Canada has a land border with the EU, the US does not. Case closed. And unless the US thinks to also seize Hans Island, that won't change.
I'm not saying law enforcement lacks systematic drone expertise; I'm merely noting that the Canadian RCMP put out a press release celebrating its acquisition of the DJI Matrice and banned its use...within three weeks. rcmp.ca/en/bc/kelown... www.cbc.ca/news/politic...
Gauche: 2025 Droite: 2009
Dipping back into my academic identity for the @sochistorywar.bsky.social conference at the ZMSBw in Potsdam. As far as conference premises go, this is quite a nice one! I’m looking forward to presenting tomorrow on Giulio Douhet and Future War - apt for a history conference! @sgiadurham.bsky.social
FCAS lives to fight another day, NGF (combat aircraft) included. I still believe all (state) parties fundamentally have an incentive to cooperate.
The new French Minister of Defence has...interesting hobbies. Par for the course for a French politician, I guess.
Some days the German language feels quite natural. And some days I have to do a double take.
Well obviously Dassault would suggest that, they're not the ones working on the other FCAS pillars 🙄I struggle to see MBDA (Remote carriers), Thales (cloud, sensors) or their subcontractors being happy to lose work only so Dassault can earn more money. www.politico.eu/article/fran...
