The lady running a yard sale saw me coming with my big sunhat and scurried inside to grab a big of NWT sunhats and I applaud her for her initiative. I came home and deleted this hat from a shopping cart, where it would consume resources to ship and cost me 6x more.

Unlike Ken, I have ethical standards for the entertainment I patronize.

I’ve been watching Jeopardy since Alex Trebek started hosting, and for years before that, my family played the old Jeopardy board game! I love Jeopardy, and have since I was a kid.

Yesterday on Bluesky, Ken Jennings made what he probably thought was a harmless joke that hinged on finding humor in transphobic media. When many, many people pushed back against his cheerful bigotry, tried to help him understand the harm he was doing, and urged him to consider deleting and apologizing, he instead doubled down.

I’m an old cis woman and Ken Jennings’ happy insistence on his (admitted) right to exhibit bigotry has ruined the host, and therefore the show, for me and my household. I’m disappointed to miss out on the entertainment your show has always afforded me, but unlike Ken, I have some standards about what media i consume and who it harms, even tangentially.

I think often of the violence incited by quotations of “I Love, I Love , I Love My Wife (But Oh! You Kid!)”. These are people having IMMENSE FEELINGS about their relationships via song.

Egg candles, 50¢ at a yard sale, still — AND I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH — in the box. Ever since I opened it, I’ve had the urge to watch Showgirls.

A six-pack of glittery candles shaped more or less like eggs, sitting all akimbo in a cardboard egg carton. They are multicolored — Nile green, mauve, salmon, butter yellow, bubble gum pink, and light purple — and I’m sorry to tell you that on each lonnnng egg the wick coated in a wax nubble looks like a cartoon nipple.

My pantry beans continue to germinate vigorously for the most part. 9/10 pinto beans germinated so far, similar but slower germination with fava beans, no action yet from garbanzo beans but here’s hoping 🌱🌱🌱
