The GOP is turning the corruption volume to 11 in the hope to seize illegitimate power. American Citizens must respond to this even more loudly with capital D Democracy in November. Once we defeat these criminals, they must be held accountable & we must SAFEGUARD our future democracy from them.
Unity at the price of accountability. We blundered with the Confederates, with Nixon, and with Trump and the J6ers. If we refuse to distinguish forgiveness from amnesty, we can't be shocked when the corrupt turn our mercy into strategy. The Constitution is only a piece of paper unless we defend it.
Men tearing at each other in cages with the White House conscripted into the spectacle as validation while a sociopath birthday boy with emperor delusions and all his slavering toadies froth in celebration of vulgarity and violence and their inevitable cut of the profits. Happy 250, America!
I (very impulsively) traded in my car three weeks ago and got a 2026 Prius XSE plug-in when I saw an ad for Toyota's nationwide Prius sales event. These gas price upticks every day still stress me OUT, though. Iran warned last week that "Americans will soon be nostalgic for $5 gas." 🤬
When we win this thing anyway? We MUST politically PUNISH the corrupted GOP and also hold them LEGALLY accountable for this 4 year ransacking of our country.
Dissent matters. Not just for SCOTUS Justices, but for ALL Americans. It matters because it reminds us to hold to our internal standards in the face of systemic loss. Dissent is not only protest, it's self preservation.
Welllll...who WOULDN'T immediately think of a TV show that ended more than 50 years ago? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This, along with all the elected Dems who did not hesitate or hedge with the standard, "Let's let this process play out" bullshit. So often, even Dems turn the blind eye to bigotry and predation. This gives me hope that we CAN dismantle patriarchy.
Nicole Wallace last night, asking Jane Fonda what to say to people who are tired of fighting and maybe want to sit this one out: "I'm 88 years old and I'm not tired!" #NOKINGS #LosAngeles
Trump isn't on the ballot, but he may as well be, and apparently he's losing his own neighborhood.
Sigh. It's my 8th Wednesday since submitting. I've received only one response among the 14 submissions. I'm sending the next batch tomorrow without any meaningful feedback. My nerves certainly don't feel like much of a data point, but I'm hoping I'm wrong and I'm not giving up.
At least one thing HAS changed. Veterans after WWII and Korea were still publicly respected and our government at least pretended to show appreciation for their sacrifices by enacting the GI BILL. By the early 1950s millions of veterans were in college or had bought homes using those benefits.
WHITENESS losing its grip on prestige, and Patriarchy losing its monopoly on masculinity. And perhaps, MOST upsettingly, what they see when BB hands his Grammy off to a little Brown boy, is the greatest threat of all: Continuity. They see a future that refuses to look like the past.
They are counting on defining the narrative so we forget the truth. Never forget the truth.
BOTD in 1885. In 1920, Dr. Alice Paul and others celebrate stars added as new states ratified the 19th Amendment. Paul had already survived a prison hunger strike and force-feeding for picketing the WH, and had already drafted the ERA. She died in 1977. The ERA is still not an official US Amendment.
