Ok so at this point it's super clear Nolan isn't intentionally making a proper Odyssey movie, right? This is very clearly his AU fanfic loosely inspired by the Odyssey. Like ok Nolan I'm sure it was convenient for marketing purposes but this is not The OdysseyTM.

Nolan touts himself as a highly sophisticated filmmaker but he’s falling into the exact same historical inaccuracies that have been around for decades. Genuinely if someone was gonna have the stupid trash can armor in their movie and somehow make it look good, I would’ve bet my money on him.
