#TourDeFleece stage 16: I started the second bobbin of this colorway. #Handspinning 🧶
Today was a rest day for #TourDeFleece, but I decided to ply this Rambouillet/yak down blend O spun last week. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 15; Likd yesterday, I didn’t get to do as much spinning as I would liked, but I did ply this yarn. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 14: I didn’t get to spin as much today as I’d hoped to, but I did finish this bobbin. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 13: I saved the most colorful braid of this project spin for last. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 12: I finished spinning this bobbin, the last of this colorway. I’ll start a new colorway tomorrow. #Handspinning 🧶
#WIPWednesday : I finally feel like I’ve made some progress. I finished knitting the cardigan (can anyone suggest a shop in the Twin Cities with a good zipper selection?), started the second sock, and am ready to switch to ribbing on the tee’s sleeve. Details in alt text. #Knitting #KnitSky 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 11: as I predicted, I couldn’t spin yesterday (PTA meeting). Today I started the last bobbin of singles in this color. #Handspinning 🧶
Today is a rest day for #TourDeFleece but I spun anyway, especially because I’m not sure if I will be able to spin tomorrow. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 9: I intended to spin the full bobbin of the pale blue fiber today. But as I was spinning, I kept thinking about my knitting WIPs. I haven’t been very motivated to knit lately, so I decided to stop spinning early to knit. Also finished the 2nd Romney/yak bobbin. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 8: I spun on 3 different wheels today. I started by plying on my Lendrum, my first wheel and still fave for plying. The. I did woolen spinning on my Kromski Symphony and then finished spinning the bobbin of pale fiber worsted style on my Daedalus Martin. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 7: I finished the last bobbin of the dark blue and started the first of this lighter colorway. Both colors are Shaniko/silk blends dyed by Snug & Spun Fiber Co, a local dyer. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 6: there’s a craft group that meets at my office over the lunch hour on Thursdays, so today I brought my spinning. And then I did more over at @muse2320fiber.bsky.social during one of their TdF events. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 5: I finished the second bobbin of this spin and started the third. Fiber is Shaniko and Silk dyed by Snug & Spun Fiber Co. #Handspinning 🧶
#WIPWednesday : after a busy time with work, I don’t quite have my knitting mojo back. But I have worked on these two projects. Details in the alt text. #Knitting 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 4: I’ve started a new bobbin. I’m doing a 3-ply fractal of sorts, so this chunk of top is half the full width. #Handspinning 🧶
#TourDeFleece stage 3: I finished this bobbin of singles today. #Handspinning 🧶
#SundaysAreForSpinning : Started day 2 of #TourDeFleece with more plying (grey Cheviot that I overdid it on and made harsh), and then started my first Tour-specific project. I will spin these 3 braids separately to use in a future project together. Details in alt text. #Handspinning 🧶
This will be a spinning account for the duration of #TourDeFleece. I had a last-minute trip come up this week, so I wasn’t able to get my bobbins. Learned. I started the Tour by plying this up when I got home. #Handspinning
Last week, Kat Abughazaleh posted about Culver’s. Her partner is the CEO of the company that publishes The Onion. The Onion was founded in Madison, WI. The UW-Madison just announced that Culver’s will be the first “jersey patch sponsor.” It’s all connected. uwbadgers.com/feature/culv...
#SundaysAreForSpinning : I intended on finishing off some spinning WIPs before the start of Tour de Fleece, but my latest shipment from MellyKnits was so gorgeous I had to spin it up right away. But I also did work on some WIPs. #Handspinning 🧶
#WIPWednesday a road trip up to the North Shore this past weekend meant I got some good knitting time (not the driver). I mostly focused on the tee (body is now done) and hat (nearly ready for crown decreases), but put some work in on the other projects. Details in alt text. #KnitSky 🧶
I wanted to read #BogFashion for the archaeology bits, but now I find myself wanting to make some of the clothing. #SewingSky
#SundaysAreForSpinning : I spun 2 bobbins of this grey Cheviot, but couldn’t find the 3rd braid last year. Thankfully, it turned up during my annual review of my stash this winter. Also shown: the post-wash yarn from last week, heavy DK/light worsted, a bit heavier than my default. #Handspinning
#WIPWednesday : I’m closing in on finishing the body of this tee. After I took this photo, I finished the first sleeve. Not much work on the sock this past week, but on the plus side I just cast on a new hat. Details in alt text. #Knitting #Knitsky 🧶
#SundaysAreForSpinning : in order to get a 3-ply yarn out of 2 different fibers, I made my fist attempt at combination drafting. I didn’t do a great job of always drafting some of each fiber, but I think it still works. #Handspinning 🧶
2/3 projects for #WIPWednesday also have stripes, so I’ll cross-post to #ShowMeYourKnits . When I tried on the tee, I realized I had knit more than I thought. Turned the heel on the sock and started the first sweater sleeve. Details in alt text. #KnitSky #Knitting 🧶
#SundaysAreForSewing : my youngest has been asking if we could work on a quilt, and I was in a sewing mood this weekend. It’s so fast compared to knitting. But damn by back is sore from hunching over this to baste it.
