In 2026, after collecting all the data, the researchers will finish the analysis and publish their report. They will continuously update the movement metrics as new data becomes available and make them accessible to everyone. Stay tuned: the paper is coming out soon! #AfrianSwineFever
To predict #AfricaSwineFever spread, we need unified knowledge of 🐗 behavior. Last year, our researchers identified key behavior criteria and compared conditions, providing a Europe-wide overview of 🐗 movement and contact patterns relevant to ASF.
👀 Outlook to 2026: After proving that eDNA works well in the pilot study, the next goal is to make it a routine and standardized tool for monitoring wildlife diseases. Our researchers are working towards a trusted eDNA method that will fit into existing #WildlifeMonitoring programs.
🤔 Recap 2025: Last year our researchers tested this approach in a pilot study in Croatia, Spain, and Portugal. The results showed that combining #CameraTrap data with multiple eDNA methods greatly improved the detection of wildlife, insect vectors, and potential pathogens.
