Meanwhile, a coach who might have a different perspective on her comments and the rights of trans people to play sports is cut off by her team's PR team for a statement full of baby pablum.
When a team owner's arena is invaded by. bad-faith actors seeking to fabricate an incident, her understandable reaction and interaction with them result in disciplinary. action from the league.
That seems pretty political to me. Choosing to coddle the bigots because you want them to keep spending their money is a devil's bargain.

Tuck this away for when the Wolves/Lynx come asking. Do stadiums generate economic activity? Yes. Does a new stadium generate economic activity that otherwise wouldn’t occur? No. Do stadiums generate enough economic activity to pay back public $$$ usually given to the owners to build it? Nope!

Though hosted events are associated with spending in and around venues, the relevant policy question is whether they create net new economic activity that would not otherwise have occurred; and if any gains exist, do they exceed the full public cost.

The evidence provides a clear answer: stadiums do not generate economic benefits large enough to justify the public subsidies they typically receive.
A recent review of more than 100 peer-reviewed studies concluded:

Nearly all empirical studies find little to no tangible impacts of sports teams and facilities on local economic activity, and the level of venue subsidies typically provided far exceeds any observed economic benefits. In total, the deep agreement in research findings demonstrates that sports venues are not an appropriate channel for local economic development policy.

This finding may seem odd, because the spending in and around stadiums is easily observable. However, it fails to increase overall economic output because much of it is redirected from other local entertainment and consumption.

My wife asked me if I could feed her sourdough starter today, while she’s out and about. I asked her to leave me some instructions, and she did!

Most coverage is characterizing the W’s “if we don’t settle this by Mar 10 then we’ll have to change the schedule” statement (which is probably a logistical truth) as a “deadline” after which presumably the league will do something different in negotiations. Is that the threat they meant to imply?
