“The big trouble with dumb bastards is that they are too dumb to believe there is such a thing as being smart.” - Kurt Vonnegut, The Sirens of Titan
Sometimes I make things that I realize only I will find amusing. And that's ok!
Happy Indian Independence Day! Just got back from visiting a Ganesh Hindu temple, & was amused & perplexed by this sign. I could look it up, but why ruin the mystery?
I’ve seen people post these before, & always thought it was fake or a joke. But this actually happened to me today, so I’ll stop doubting. (Turns out the odds are 1 in 2,315, which is much better than I would’ve assumed.) Should probably go play the lotto now.
My absolute favorite part of my evening run is seeing these awesome ladies, who are always out, rain or shine, fighting the good fight.
Well, now that you’ve assured me that it’s warm, how can I resist?
Exciting times! Now I just have to shift into promoter mode and get some folks to read and review this thing so that I can get some real-world sales. The life of an indie author is not for the faint of heart! #booksky
Lord knows I don't want to be famous, but it would be nice to have just enough clout to be allowed access to the Romantic Depot's VIP entrance.
I never bemoan my near-misses in getting a traditional publishing deal, or regret my decision to go the Kickstarter/indie route, but I will say this: if a Blake Crouch-type author had delivered the T-themed novel I'm about to release, his publisher would be popping champagne corks right about now.
You know, sometimes I think that I enjoy making the show flyers as much as I enjoy playing the show itself!
Thanks for asking, KDP spellcheck, but I'll be keeping this one exactly the way it is.
How do I achieve my unique guitar tone, you ask? Copious amounts of cat hair!
Best 2026 Fourth of July party drink ever: algae-green slushie with blue fruit roll-up liner.
You know what I never see on Bluesky? Show flyers! But why not? Do Bluesky denizens not like live music? Is it considered gauche & provincial to promote events that most users can't attend? Anyway, I'm breaking the taboo. So if you live in NYC and enjoy upbeat, female-fronted indie pop, come on out!
I will say this: the Kickstarter process is not for the faint of heart! But I've finally gotten everything up to snuff, and the launch date of June 30 is fully locked in. And yes, I realize that this is basically a GoFundMe for starving artists, but I'm super-excited nonetheless. #Booksky
I didn’t realize until I early voted yesterday that convicted felon & abuser Hiram Monserrate is running for NY state senate AGAIN, & now here he is glad-handing inside my fave coffee shop. Ain’t American democracy grand?
Discovered on a Midtown Manhattan sidewalk. You just know that there’s a good story behind this.
Huge police presence on the streets of Jackson Heights, including garbage trucks blocking the open streets. Not a normal thing! Asked an officer what was up & he replied simply “World Cup.” EXTREMELY sus. If Mamdani wasn’t mayor I’d suspect an ICE action.
I love that Bluesky considers a video of a pregnant Michelle Zauner “sexually suggestive” content.
Although it was impossible to post during the event itself due to non-existent cell service, I want to belatedly say that the Govs Ball Festival was an incredible amount of fun. Top tier event, & only 20 min from my front door!
The weirdest thing about this (likely) AI image posted by Trump is that if you look closely it's both tapestry *and* a puzzle. I'm convinced it was created to parody maga cultist art, but in the current environment it's impossible to know for sure. Just one more example of reality outpacing satire.
My Kickstarter video is currently eating my life, but I think it's worth it. Besides, I get to extend the world of my book with amusing (to me) fake ads like this one. NOTE: This is a background element in a live-action video. The use of AI slop is intentional & satirical. Please don't @ me. #NoAI
I try not to judge, but this is truly the saddest fruit salad I've ever seen. My coffee shop neighbor paid good money for this, and I'm tempted to ask if he's doing all right.
Okay, the Kirkwood brothers have turned into the cast of Duck Dynasty, and Curt performs in a track suit & orthopedic shoes, but goddamn can the Meat Puppets still blow the roof off. And Kurt's son Elmo ain't half-bad on guitar, either. (Yes, he named his son Elmo — acid is a hell of a drug.)
I feel like this doggo outside the coffee shop window is judging me.
More great moments in civic engineering. Make up your mind, NYC!
