Mom, Episcopal priest, trying to be optimistic that good prevails despite the US horror show. The arc of justice and all that. It should be pretty obvious because: amateur. But, unless it’s labeled “repost,” all photos, essays, poetic attempts are my own.
#Water in two forms. A small cascade in the Appalachian foothills where I now live and a peaceful spring lakeside in northern Wisconsin a few years back. Red Winged Blackbirds don’t arrive until the severe winter weather ends. I probably took this picture to celebrate seeing one. #BlueSkyArtShow
An image that always brings a smile. I captured this sweet moment between my daughter and her husband walking along the #water at the Outerbanks in NC a few years ago. #BlueSkyArtShow
Saguaro cacti are #big. Huge actually. This one was taller than most of the others and sported the unusual trait of a crested top on its center arm. One of way too many cacti photos I took during a visit to Phoenix, AR in 2017 😂. That folder now greatly reduced. #BlueSkyArtShow
After weeks of drought we’ve had a solid week+ of heavy downpours. Though the rains were much needed it was a relief to see the moon break through the clouds tonight. There it is, glowing behind my stained #glass St Andrew’s cross in the window. #blueskyartshow
This ground level picture of a jack in the pulpit was taken in the rectory garden in Shrewsbury, MA, in 2013. I loved that small private space as much as the people in that church (a lot!). The garden backed up to a woodland area and was full of wildflowers and wildlife. A true sanctuary.
The petals of this southern magnolia blossom #curve protectively around its emerging fruit. The light citrusy scent is really delightful. #BlueSkyArtShow
The pictures don’t do the color or the velvet texture justice. #BloomScrolling.
This blackberry cane produces an enough delicious berries every year for the birds and my pup and I to share. But if you want the sweet berries you have to brave the #sharp thorns. Buttercup has learned that she has to be very careful. #BlueSkyArtShow
The town where I live has been experiencing drought conditions since winter. We’ve had a short period of rain a couple of weeks ago and today we are reviving a nice drenching downpour. I am an as grateful as the trees that are practically dancing, branches are lifting high out there!
Had to do it. I tried not to but… What’s more #busy than a bee 🤗? And I had this sweet little one working away right there in front of me this morning. #BlueSkyArtShow
Good night, may it be a peaceful one. Even the #busy chimney swifts have gone to bed. #BlueSkyArtShow a few hours early.
Daisies in spring time never fail to cheer my spirit. They look so simple but, if you look closely, the patterns made by petals and especially the tightly clustered yellow center are intricate. #BlueSkyArtShoe #Growth
Saw these at a rest stop in near Waynesville, NC a couple of weeks ago. #roseWednesday
The celebration of life for a much loved gardener was held under the sky. Here in original cathedral was the perfect place to remember someone who spent her life honoring the gifts of God’s created world.
A sweet surprise. While out on our dog walk this morning in Chicago we passed by a house with a larger than normal yard and some unusual pets. These hens ware adorable, with lovely #soft looking feathers and sweet voices. #BlueSkyArtShow
Spring is in full force here and I saw a pair of Ospreys on my last walk along the Greenway. My phone is a poor substitute for a true camera, for this kind of thing, but I was able to capture one of them as it flew over the river.
Buttercup being a very good girl, at the arboretum. I loved this sculpture. #background #BlueSkyArtShow
Barely opened Dogwood blossoms. They’d be nearly invisible in the late morning sun if it wasn’t for the trunk of a huge pine tree in the #background. #BlueSkyArtShow
Just one more, because I enjoy a split rail fence. #horizontal #BlueSkyArtShoe
Even after extensive cleanup there are still hundreds of fallen trees in every town and neighborhood. This area is clearer than many. 18 months post hurricane Helene at the Asheville arboretum #horizontal #BlueShyArtShow
The early morning sun was glowing in the most beautiful way between #two crossed branches the other day. There was a lot of moisture in the air and the haze was almost golden one minute and silver the next. The tree also had #two trunks. #BlueSkyArtShow
