For context here's an example I made of the sort of glow effect I'm talking about, yes it looks good and that's fine, nothing wrong with using it, but it isn't particularly accurate, and finding explanations of how to make accurate vintage film title emulation is annoyingly difficult

One artifact of old text that I never really see recreated in vintage text emulation is the aforementioned slightly inflated outlines, and the slight fade to a different colour as it fades in and out

grabbing resolve vintage text tutorial makers by the hair: Text in old films does not magically glow, yes it is typically quite soft & a little blurry, maybe there's subtle chromatic aberration, typically the outline is a bit inflated so shapes bleed into one another a bit, but it doesn't fuckn glow
