Flooded basement recovery day 3.5. We are eating our feelings but at least we are eating well (tonight, for the first time). Headed to the grill. Steak. Zucchini. Spud packet. Cold beer for me.
New book day. And as always such a treat to receive books from @honestdogbooks.bsky.social You get some artwork. A book wrapped nicer than any present I ever wrap, and a connection a some person doing that for you way up in Bayfield.
Testing my family’s observation skills. Went rogue on the mowing today for the hell of it.
We did also build the raspberry arbor thing. Be kind to my raspberry plants, they’re new this year.
Found this old red electric smoker set out on trash day in an alley in North Minneapolis during a run. Drove over later and picked it up. That was probably 10 years ago now. Added those thermometers right by the internal grill grates. Only control is plugged in or not. Has a learning curve.
The wrapping should get us out of the temp stall and help keep things moist as we head towards 203f.
We’re five hours in. The briskets hit 165f and they’re now wrapped up tight for finishing.
Tomorrow we are building a raspberry trellis/arbor. And smoking brisket. We are getting ready.
I don’t have a tattoo, but when I do it will be the Heggie’s baking instructions.
Anyone ever use one of these speed looms and knows a trick or two? Mending is Kűhl.
It was at this exact moment that our oldest child threw up. But this was maybe our best pizza night spread in some long time. Celebrate the pizza. 🍕
Almost no chance I remember the after photos, but we’re set for pizza night. Something like a pepperoni sub pizza. Smaller one for boys without the hot giardiniera.
One of the birds that comes to my feeder and enjoys picking bugs in my yard has a badass motorcycle helmet looking head. You know this mfer rides a hog. Imagine how fast he goes!!!!
You gotta try this flax seed, chia, mango, açaí, strawberry, banana, carrot, celery, cauliflower, tomato, lime, ginger, yogurt, milk smoothie.
There’s more backyard but it is even less photogenic at this time of year. The front yard is popping though.
My yard is a disaster because of white grubs eating the lawn I was trying to seed in. But my garden beds are prepped, the strawberries are covered for the cold evening and my new raspberry raised beds are finally filled.
The dog walk is finished. The kids don’t have to be up for 90 minutes. It is above 50 degrees. Time for some back yard coffee.
