Open concept offices are not for everyone. Neither are loud classrooms. Artist: unknown
Hey, remember when they took all the portable air filter units out of classrooms? Those would probably be pretty useful right about now. Just sayin’. 🤷♀️
An incredible day sitting at both the @kitchenercenndp.bsky.social and Labour For Palestine tables today at Kitchener’s #PalestineDay festival. Fabulous food, Art, and some really important conversations with community members. Thank you to the many volunteers who made this day such a success!
TDSB and TCDSB parents, you know what to do. 416-325-1941 premier@ontario.ca #FoneFriday #FundOurSchools
No power? No problem. Unstructured time “feeling bored” away from devices is healthy for kids’ brains, and can spark both curiosity and creativity. Some of the best learning emerges from unstructured play. There is no age limit on play! #CampMommy
Glass is rigid and elastic, allowing energy to ring out as a clear tone. Plastic is flexible and traps more energy, absorbing the sound waves and producing a short, dull thud. Everyday objects can be sources of wonder and learning when life slows down. #CampMommy
When you hit the bottle with a utensil, you vibrate the glass and the water itself. In that case, adding more water increases the mass, causing the vibrations to slow down and produce a lower pitch. #CampMommy
Learning about the physics behind music is a great way to spend a summer day. When you blow across the rim of a bottle, you are resonating the air column, so adding water creates a higher pitch. #CampMommy
Dear grown-ups: I think we all need to be prescribing lie-downs in the shade to each other right about now. The world is a lot. Let’s take 30 minutes to just rest. 10/10 highly recommend.
It’s #FoneFriday! Time to call Doug and let him know what you think about cuts to education. Nobody is answering right now so you can leave a voicemail!
Sticking to predictable routines as much as possible gives kids a sense of stability. If you always do a morning message or a calendar routine, today is not the day to change it up. Gentle. Steady. Reassuring. Predictable. Expect unexpected behaviours. Extend grace. We’ve got this. #OntEd
Nelson offers full math textbooks and workbooks. Private schools have them for their students. But Calandra tells us public schools will get the online supplementary materials instead (because they are cheaper). No physical books for your child to hold in their hands. #OntEd
12yo has been experimenting with various natural pigments to get different paint colours (berries, leaves, etc).
My obi-tying skills are not great. But I try hard and I mean well! I need an おばあちゃん in Kitchener to help me! Thank you to everyone who showed up to volunteer at this year’s KW Multicultural festival and made this weekend possible. My heart is full. ❤️
I have a Daddy-shaped hole in my heart today, but a friend sent me this, and it reminded me of the ways my Dad’s memory still lives on in those he served as an educator.
Good times and great food today at the KW Multicultural Festival! Thank you to all of the volunteers who make this weekend possible.
Brown tabby kitten has clearly had enough of our nonsense. Sweet dreams, friends.

Ophelia the Swan (Victoria Park, Kitchener) is currently sitting on some eggs!! Please discourage your children from interfering with the nests of swans, geese, ducks, etc at the park. Observe from a distance and use quiet voices.
Look who I finally met in person today!!! Local K-W author Vanessa Ricci-Thode @vriccithode.bsky.social was the first self-published author to win a Nebula Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association (SFWA). You can find her books at Indigo! thodestool.ca/books
Two Pride Celebrations in one day? Challenge accepted. Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who made #WoolwichPride in Elmira and #GrandRiverPride in Cambridge such fabulous events today!!!
Apparently, the new way to delay bedtime in our house is to start working an art project at 6pm…
I had just enough time on my lunch break today to whip over to the park to celebrate Tri-Pride #Summerfest!! Happy Pride, friends!!
Provincial Council is off to a great start this morning, including an inspiring report by @maritstilesndp.bsky.social! These words resonated with me. When we lift the floor, everyone benefits. Let's get to work!
