The Eternity Gate

Dan - Old 40k person. Aylesbury UK based. 😄 Painting guides on my profile over at insta, custom Warhammer rules and resources on shared drive
Or in this example, because an absolutely tiny bit of the Landraider is by the wall, it has the benefit of cover. Which is comical.
My Consecrators went vs Grey Knights last night, ending in a close defeat that went to the wire in turn 5. We played without secondary missions which made for a MUCH better experience due to less admin. New terrain line of sight rules are still awful, but house rules will eventually fix that. 🤪
Bit of an experiment... The bases for this army are a mixture of dry and wet mud, so I wanted to try and get the lightning as if it was flowing the blade tip through the watery mud. Probably shoulda done that thing with painted wires for electrical discharge, but wanted to try this. Thoughts?
Has Legends rules you say? Would look good in Consecrators colour too eh? Well, it would be rude not to. I sense a pay in 3 is imminent.
Fresh from driving an Icecream Van to Mu Mu Land, an Ancient from the Consecrators appears. (yah, the mk5 relic armour helm is a 3D print) #warhammercommunity
Work in progress. Few things to do, washes and the like, before I can start on the weathering. Helm was a 3D print, adding the relic armour styles for the Consecrators flavour.
Despite the weather, managed to get this finished. Now the Consecrators have a Kratos…
Got a bit more to do with the tracks, but almost ready for the matt varnish.
Ran out of painting time today. Managed to get the drybrushing done, next up is a liberal coating of Grim Black speed paint to get the base colour down. If I get some more time today anyway…
Techmarine for the Consecrators done! Fun model this. I realised never actually got one for my Iron Snakes, so that's going to happen at some point too.
My pleasure, Tom. Always a joy seeing the stuff you post and from your folks. I actually suggested your books to my daughter this morning, she'd got this book and I thought she might like your stuff, turns out she already follows you too 😂
In other news, proper new mini syndrome last night. Landspeeder got destroyed first turn... I moved as safely as I could, but I hadn't realise a nearby Chimera had Agents with multi-meltas armed Servitors inside. And a firing deck for them to shoot from. Youch.
We may also bring in some sensible house rules in situations like this... So where big models are positioned opposite sides of the "light" part of combined light/dense terrain area, we may say they can actually see each other. Because, damn, it's stupid if they can't.
Yeah I think a lot of things will have to get counted as exposed. Issue is, by the rules, that graveyard with it's low walls isn't exposed. We had it first become an issue with some barricades that by the rules blocked line of sight to a tank 3 times their height
Played more 11th edition. Really not keen on the terrain rules. This graveyard with its low walls counts as light terrain, so the C'tan and Dreadnought have no line of sight to each other. We had to go double check because it seems so silly, but yup. Kills game atmosphere from your terrain.
Land Speeder is now ready for the Consecrators. #warhammercommunity
Work in progress, mostly the varnish to blend things together and then the base to paint when it’s dry…
Managed to get these done just before the heatwave stops all painting... Deathwing Terminators and Captain for the Consecrators.
Work in progress. Bases to do, plus matt varnish for the marines to get the varying shines off and bring everything together. But gotta let the technical texture stuff dry on the base until tomorrow.
