I did frozen dumplings gyoza style! They look amazing and tasted pretty good (tho the bag wasn't lying about them being spicy!)

The underside of a set of 8 pan fried Korean dumplings with a crispy 'skirt' holding them together. They're golden brown to almost burned. There's also a little whitte ceramic cup of dipping sauce.

I tried a recipe out of the July/August Cook's Illustrated and it came out really well! I wanted to bake it b/c it's got ginger in two forms and cardamom AND it's for a 8x8 pan so we can eat it all before it goes funny. But! it is also incidentally gluten free. Highly recommend.

Got some Meyer lemons off a freind of a friend's tree! Lemon cake and lemon squares

I don't think it needed that butter on top. Anyways! A successful Christmas lasagne, which is the only time I bother.

A 13x9 disposable aluminum foil pan full to the brim with a cooked lasagna. There's a visible, linear puddle of butter amongst the browned cheese.

Doesn't rain but it fucking pours. Had to put my cat to sleep last week because of cancer, and yesterday Mom called and said she's got a cancer diagnosis too. I think I'm going to take up model kits about it.

H'mm.

An unfinished color-in postcard with a pattern of thin lines. They weave over and under each other with sharp corners, and form repeating star and repeating chain patterns. I've backed myself into a corner by doing the central 12 pointed star in saturated and lighter colored 6 color rainbows. There's no logical pattern to follow to finish the side stars.

I have made. So much yellow squash bread. I missed a squash, as one does, and it was so big there was still a good hunk of it left after I grated 4 cups!

2 loaves of yellow squash bread still in their red on the outside, white on the inside stoneware loaf pans. (I have not shelled out for stell pans... yet....) They have domed and cracked tops.

So I'm sick and I skipped a couple of days in the garden, and ofc, had to face the wages of sin (inattentiveness.)

A "Golden Egg" yellow squash that weighs 3 or 4 pounds and sounds hollow when thumped. The skin isn't completely hard yet, but this guy is only good for squash bread.

Dinner

A white bowl of garlic, onions, yellow squash, and crunchy bits of bacon. Also contains salt, pepper, dried lemon zest, and olive oil. Probably Keto, but not on purpose. I just needed to start eating the yellow squash and this is what I had on hand.

I'm not planting this type of salad turnip with green onions as a succession crop again. The leaves ate all the sun and the onions are lying floppy on the dirt.

I'm holding the same turnip, but the angle of my hand is a bit odd so I can show the barest tips of the fingers showing on the other side. The turnip fills my whole hand.

This honker came out of my garden! It's technically a salad turnips but the outside layer got a little bitter since turnips are thirsty bastards when the root is really growing.

Rare Una Behavoir!! She's folded herself into the smallest possible box!

"Direct Descendent" captures the lightning in the bottle of "Summon the Keeper" the most of any of her other books, including the sequels to StK, imo. Super fun and funny, with a pair of people trying to navigate love in the middle of a rising dark.
