We're a non-partisan coalition working to end #gerrymandering in #Pennsylvania. We want an independent #redistricting commission so voters can choose their politicians, instead of politicians choosing their voters. Learn more at
Our monthly Zoom meeting this evening is open to anyone who wants to know more about our work or share ideas for building stronger local groups and more effective advocacy. We all have a role to play. What's yours? actionnetwork.org/forms/fair-d...
Most Pennsylvanians now know what #gerrymandering is & most want a solution to end it. At events across PA 100s step up to say "Fix this!' If you haven't signed the petition in support of a PA independent #redistricting commission you can do that here: tinyurl.com/FairDistrict...
Interns & FDPA volunteers have collected thousands of petition signatures this summer at over 40 community events in about 2 dozen counties. Rural, urban, suburban; red, blue or purple: Pennsylvanians don't like gerrymandering & say politicians should not draw district lines.
On 7/12 @PALegis passed a budget & recessed until 9/28. Bills we supported are dead for this session due to PA Constitution requirement that constitutional amendments pass in both chambers 3 months before the next election. The work for reform continues. www.fairdistrictspa.com/updates/is-t...
🗓️2of2 A factor rarely mentioned re #PAbudget: decades of #gerrymandering yielded a less accountable legislative process, with little fear of voter response. Voters take note: your votes DO count. It's time to make clear we expect legislators to do their jobs, follow the law & pass budgets on time.
PA has - in law -a reconciliation process that could provide a timely budget every year. Decades of increasingly unaccountable legislative process, enabled by decades of partisan gerrymandering, have made late budgets a regular feature of Harrisburg's dysfunction.
🚪2of2 Why off-the floor votes in Senate Rules Room?#PASenate has many other rooms, & many ways to improve public access. "This is really intentional-cut out any public view of what’s happening." Thank you to Senators Pat Stefano, Lindsey Williams & Katie Muth for repeated efforts to change this.
Senate Appropriations gutted budget HB 2400 completely on June 29, then #PASenate recessed, with no session days scheduled until 9/28. PA is an outlier in giving too much power to too few leaders & allowing them to block reforms to create a more accountable, transparent process.
Since the start PA has been a laboratory for democracy. Are we still moving toward dreams expressed 250 years ago? The right to alter & reform was 1st put into law in the PA 1776 constitution & given greater prominence in PA constitutions since. We're still asking: how do we exercise that right?
FDPA operates on a shoestring budget with an all-volunteer staff & no office overhead. As we've been told, we punch way above our weight. But we do have expenses & a fiscal year-end shortage. We'd welcome your donations. Every dollar makes a difference. tinyurl.com/FDPA-YrEnd2026
June @fandmpoll.bsky.social poll finds "7 in 10 (70%) registered voters support having an independent redistricting commission draw state legislative districts. Most (59%) voters say they oppose the mid-decade redistricting currently taking place in some states." www.fandm.edu/stories/fran...
Would efforts to disenfranchise voters cause a backlash? YES. Should district lines ensure ALL voters equal representation? YES. Do voters want legislators to concentrate on solving real problems, instead of angling for partisan power through gerrymandering districts? YES.
American voters trust independent redistricting commissions over state legislatures to draw fair congressional district lines by a more than 2-to-1 margin. Survey research has found that Americans think of #gerrymandering on the same footing as forms of political corruption.⬇️

🇺🇸2of2 What can YOU do to help the work of redistricting reform? Take time to understand the problem, consider the solution, and find ways to take action. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 Start here: www.fairdistrictspa.com 🇺🇸
🇺🇸1of2 This #MemorialDay we remember those who gave their lives to protect our freedom. In their honor, we recommit to our own role in protecting the freedoms we enjoy. 🇺🇸 A top threat: politicized redistricting. It undermines trust & fuels political dysfunction & polarization.
On Primary Day, more than 135 volunteers invested time at 35 polling places, collecting over 2600 petition signatures. In rural communities, suburban neighborhoods, & cities large & small, Pennsylvanians understand that unfair districts hurt all of us. www.fairdistrictspa.com/updates/thou...
A volunteer described Polling Place Outreach as "surprisingly delightful...I was part of many brief but meaningful conversations. Many expressed general dismay, some hopelessness, about our country. Still they were voting & expressed thanks that we were doing something to right the system."
On Primary Day over 120 FDPA volunteers braved heat & rain to collect petition signatures in support of an independent redistricting commission. Most voters agree: we don't want outside money rigging PA districts to deny us all a voice in Congress or Harrisburg. THIS is what democracy looks like.
Thank you to all the candidates who shared their thoughts about redistricting reform. Here are just a few. We hope more candidates will share their thoughts before the General Election. Check your own candidates' positions and comments at www.fairdistrictspa.com/.../know-bef... & vote411.org
A large majority of voters believe #gerrymandering is wrong, no matter who does it. What would it take to create a coalition of voters who demand real reforms to return power to the people, rather than political leaders & their wealthiest donors? Check www.fairdistrictspa.com/take-action/...
