Irump nas been advocating nigner tarifs for decades. In 2018 and 2019, during his first term, his administration roughly doubled the trade-weighted average statutory tariff rate from 2% to 4%, the highest level since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) went into force in 1994.
Those duties were focused on a few industries and China. Ultimately, 80% of those tariffs were passed through to U.S. importers, the recent study demonstrates.
The tariff regime the president unveiled last spring was far larger in size and scope. It increased statutory rates by 10 percentage points or more on imports from 88 countries and on 77 products.

President Donald Trump has said foreign exporters will pay for his tariffs, but new New York Fed data indicates the contrary is happening.

The researchers looked at nearly $4 trillion worth of shipments coming into the United States and found that about 96% of tariff
costs are being paid by American importers and consumers, while foreign exporters are covering just 4% by slightly lowering their prices.
That directly challenges the idea that tariffs are paid by other countries.
Here's why: tariffs are taxes charged at the
U.S. border. American companies pay them first when goods arrive. Those higher costs then move through the supply chain - to manutacturers, retailers and eventually shoppers - showing up as higher prices or fewer choices.
The study found that when tariffs went up, prices paid by U.S. buyers rose almost dollar for dollar. Foreign companies largely kept their prices the same. Instead of discounting their goods, many simply shipped less to the U.S.

Reflecting Pool - Insight from a coating expert
For those of you curious as to what's going on in the reflecting pool, 1 run a paint/coatings store and have a lot of background in industrial products, epoxies, and polyureas.
The coating that was used is a polyurea. Very similar to an epoxy where two components are mixed together to make a catalyzed product.
First, let me start off with what didn't happen. Hydrogen peroxide had no effect on the coating peeling. If it was a chemical issue, the polyurea would be "eating away" and not come up in sheets. Also, someone did not tear it and pull it.
That's kind of the dumbest thing I've heard in this whole situation. Try taking any paint or coating that's properly applied and see if you can tear it up. News flash: it's impossible.

Now, here's what could have happened. First, these coatings are very climate-sensitive. If done in direct sunlight, it could cause the product to cure too quickly and not adhere to the concrete. Also, if the concrete was not properly prepared at the time and not grinded down properly, the coating would not be able to soak in. Additionally, moisture could have been in the ground at the time of application.
Ultimately, the issue isn't the coating or anything done to the reflecting pool after installation. The most likely cause of the issue is the prep done by the contractor who did the job.
P.S. The algae is due to the color of the paint. Dark color absorbs heat, and hot water makes algae.
EDIT:
Since this post the administration has came out and said vandalism caused the product to peel. This is impossible if installed correctly. The closest thing I can compare the products they used to is an epoxy floor in garage or commercial floor. If you know what I'm talking about then you'd understand that it is physically impossible to make it peel unless it was installed improperly.

Within moments of the man hitting the floor, Sam said a woman ran over and began performing chest compressions. The woman began to cry and screamed out for someone to help her.
Sam, who has CPR training, asked her supervisor if she could assist. The supervisor watched the woman heaving her weight into the man's chest and gave no response.
"I start sobbing and said, 'I want to help, please!' I know she's going to get tired and need to be subbed out"" Sam told The Western Edge.
